2 bad that so many of these cars ended up getting sliced up later in the 60s :(

Are these two the same car, just at different times in its life? You'll note that one (778 on door) appears to be white, with a fiberglass '63 bumper and a flat hood. The other (1077 on the door) has a raised hood (not a teardrop scoop) and a '64 bumper, cut off skirts on the front fenders, and that it appears to not be white .

Edit: I see that there has previously been some discussion of whether Zimmy I was blue or white, between Thunderplex and Race Artist. Also note that the black and white picture of Zimmy I at the '63 Nats (the photo with the Vette in the other lane) appears to be blue (or at least not white), and that in that photo it has a '63 front bumper. So, is the white car the same car as the blue car? Someone said, earlier in this thread, that there is a photo of the window sticker showing the color as blue, but the one that appears to be white seems to be the earlier photo.

  12. Lil Pete's car was the former Oregon based Jim Price's car, later this car would receive a roof modification that most did not know, it was duplicated in fiberglass. Car went to Florida in exchange for a 427 SOHC. The #81 (rear side glass number) T-bolt also came to Washington state in the late 60's from Ohio. Car was owned by me from 1981 till '94 sold and went through a very rough period, finally rescued and restored by local owner Jim Gonia.

Two 1963 Fairlanes were built, one blue, one white. The 1962 Fairlane and the white 1963 Fairlane (both clones as the actual cars are nowhere to be found) will be at the TASCA Ford grand opening in Charlotte this coming Wednesday.

That's too bad. My "unnamed source" on the Donilson/Skinner T-Bolt is going to be there, and I could have hooked you up to talk directly with him so that you could judge his veracity for yourself.

You could ask Larry Davis about his veracity. I'm sure that he would know right off who this is that I'm talking about.

Edit: If you do end up making it to Montgomery, look us up. Just look for Ben Arnold, I'm going with him, the "unnamed source", and a few of the other guys from the Birmingham/Hueytown area.

Just to explain Emmit's cars at the reunion this year.Jack Hazelgren owns both cars, the white car was restored to the way it was for the early part of its life,Jack has tons of photos and documents and had spoken to Emmit before he died. The black car has been a five year + project to be a tribute to how Emmit's car ended up in the later years. There is a photo on here of the car in primer showing the rear wheel well openings.Jack does not claim it as an exact reproduction, just a very nicely done tribute. If you ever get a chance to see the cars look at all the photos and documents Jack displays with the cars.As Jody has said on this subject, there are many half truths and many rumors on these great cars, you need to talk to people like Dennis and Phil and the rest rest that actually were there to get the true stories.I got the chance in 2004 to meet Bill Holbrook and many of the Ford execs.,and drivers and hear the stories on the cars.I was also fortunate to be at this years reunion.I am no expert on T-Bolts but have been fortunate to get a priceless education on them!! ROY.

I've been giving this some thought, and I guess I feel a bit the opposite of you. It's a shame that so many of these old race cars (not just T-Bolts) get put back to "day one" condition. The modifications are part of their history. A buddy of mine did that with an old Boss Nine racer. He regrets doing it now, I think. Now, its just another concours restored Boss 429 Mustang. Not that a concours Boss Nine is ordinary, but...

Actually, they are not very similar, at all.

Can anyone confirm positively that any of the T-Bolts got Econoline seats? All that I have seen in person, and in photos, have the A-100 van seats.
