Big money in it for ford for sure. You think they would have jumped on that a long time ago.

You're telling me its cheaper to stamp and ship here than to stamp here. I don't believe it. I have a few friends that do stamping in Detroit and its coat effective. I also know a few people that's jobs were shipped overseas only to come back because the quality is so horrible in china. We as a people need to stop thinking of the short term money gains vs the long term money gains for stuff being made here. The baby boomers have sold their children out by shipping jobs overseas for a few pennies on the dollars. The marketing machine has brainwashed people into believing we can't make things here and have them be profitable. Same thing they did in the late 70's early 80's about not being able to make a quality automobile. You're full of it and are brainwashed.

...........Let's try to not make rash generalizations. I'm quite sure there are a lot of boomers on here who lost jobs that went out of country and didn't have anything to do with the corporate decision making process.

I'm 59 7/8 years old and grew up in a blue collar neighborhood and was a blue collar worker myself. So I care where its made,Thats my opinion and do not expect anyone to agree or follow(its a free country)I buy american every chance I can(as far as the China made computers, there is no other choice).Again I don't want a **** storm!!,just the ages!! I'm almost 40. I grew up in Detroit and slowly watched my friend and family lose jobs. I do care where they are made. I care that younger people don't care if thugs are made here. We use to make great things in this country now we are more of a service type society. We don't make things like we use to. I won't drive a foreign car when I started dating my wife I asked her what she drove and wouldn't date anyone that drove a foreign car. Or a smoker for that matter. But anyways be as it may I care that younger people aren't as skilled in things other than texting and posting selfies. Yes there are kids or young people that are building great things now a days but it's the exception not the norm. Just like the baby boomers that are/were in charge that shipped jobs out of the country. They have done a real disservice to not only their grandkids but to us as a so jetty as a whole. I would pay more for made in the USA stuff but cheap china made **** is all we can get nowadays. At our house we eat dinner as a family and care for each other and out friends and families. The community has lost morals and values as well as great paying jobs that we can stand back and say I made that!

Don't go getting your *****'s in a wad guys!......While I agree with alot of what you are saying. I live in the real world....2014....And as ****ed up as it is, The days of trying to make quailty stuff and producing it here and being competive Are over. GM, Ford, Mopar all Do the same thing...They ***emble cars here, But parts are made overseas. No one can compete with that. I did not make the world this way, I just do the best I can to get by in it. And when I go to the retail store and buy a ceiling fan. The US made ones are $150.00 (if you can even find one) and the china made ones are $29.99......And I work hard for my money, So I am going to make each dollar count. Like I said welcome to "America 2014"......Heres an idea You guys make a 32 five window the same quailty as the "united pacific" ones are, And (completely Done in the US) and match their price and I will buy from you....Bottomline is I live in the "Show Me" state......So Show me a better way. Otherwise Quit your wining and crying.

This thread is starting to go the wrong way, So I am not going to take it down that road no futher......I believe what I say, And I also have to deal with the world today, Not what it was yesterday. I am a hard working guy just like most of us, And am just doing the best I know how For my family. And I still say Good Quailty is Good Quailty...regardless who built it.

I appeciate the patriotic sentiments, back to to topic. Is Ford or any manufacturer offering vins on the bodies? Ford and all other manufacturers use tier 2 stamping houses, particularly for service, the die set and the steel determine the dimensions, not the country. China and all other asia pacific countries use varying grades of steel, just like the US uses varying grades of steel, most of asia pacific uses japanese steel specs, as defined by the automotive market. the bodies are too much for me, but I'm happy they're being made, maybe the gold chainers will get off the orginal stuff.

Good one, ****. I looked at the one at the Nats North and it seemed good enough to build. As far as the cost goes, buying someones car or project may not be cheaper. My experience is, you never know what's under that paint and primer. Sometimes the seller doesn't even know.

Why is it over? I'm not whining or crying. I'm saying it can and should be done here and it does matter. The domino effect has made Michigan a waste land soon to be back into farm lands. You're right this is America an have the right to not support your community. To not care about your family having jobs in the future because you support the "I don't care where it's made" side of things. But I do care about my community also served my country and continue to serve it and do care about the future of my loved ones and the people around me. Drive your foreign car and I will drive my Fords one made by my brother the other made by my father and other by my grandfather. Support those that support you!

I'm married now but nope no dating smokers or girls that drives a foreign cars.

I just it was nice that you can buy repopped bodies, there was a time that u couldn't buy squat for any of these cars, and not that long ago ! Sorry to inform anyone that doesn't realize , today's world is way different than 1960 , it's a global economy , with bean counters making the decisions, if you don't stay compe***ive , your done, just look no further than the ghost town of Detroit , when the unions wouldn't stay compe***ive , it was over and done . Just be happy that you can buy new stuff that is of good quality ! The generations before us worked in those sweat shops , but I'm sure the next bunch will say , I'm not stamping body parts for $10-$12 dollars an hour, because it's boring work !

wow a lot differences here. I talked with Dave at upac just before these bodies came out, he said that them and socal teamed to develop the 32 body. Dave was on that development team and knows what he is talking about. I bought a complete floor subrail ***embly, can't be happier with it. It fit in a REAL 5 window. I'm to a real flag waver@ 71 but what the hell can we do to old for protest marches anymore God that was fun.

I used to ski with the patent attorney that set up the licensing program for Ford. That same program has become the model for GM and Mopar. According to my friend, and he should know, the money Ford takes in on their licensing program just covers the cost of administration. All of the licensing programs were developed to protect trademarks. Harley came within a gnat's *** of losing their trademark because they never bothered to enforce their rights and go after vendors using the H-D logo without authorization.

Using the Ford logo doesn't carry any guarantees from Ford Motor Company regarding the quality, fit or finish of licensed products. There was a flap several years back regarding the Ford and Mustang logos used by the national owner's club that was fixed to everyone's satisfaction.

Almost forgot to mention the straw that broke the camel's back for Harley; edible ******* with the H -D logo on the crotch and advertised in Easy Rider Magazine!
