Ford toploader to chevy sb

    Im looking for a bellhousing THat will mount a toploader 4 speed to a chevy sb, I hoping to find a bell to do this with, I know its been done just wondering what it will take. Thanks

    It was pretty common back in the day since the Ford box was stronger than the GM stuff. It shouldn't be hard to make a plate to go between the Chevy bell housing and the trans case. Drill and tap the holes and bolt them together. I think the Ford input shaft is longer so that would give you the thickness of the plate, then make a pilot bearing to go in the Chevy crankshaft and drill the center to match the Ford input shaft.

    Use the Ford clutch disk and it should be OK.

    Lakewood may still make a bell but $$$ as it would be a blow-proof..Pretty sure also that if you do a search there is a company that makes all kinds of adaptor bellhousings, I got it stored somewheres, I'll post if found....

    Ah, Wilcap...I keep forgetting that they are still around..My memory jogging some, SFI Industries?
     
  6. McCloud bell housing will work. Comes with the pilot retainer adapter ring. Speedway sells them >>>>.
