  2. Why? you're a newbie yourself, and you're telling us to take it easy?
When I joined the Hamb I got my *** kicked right royally, even Ryan had a go at me. It's a tradition, and this is a traditional board. :p
Jeez, I hate this PC age we live in.

It isn't PC, years ago it was called "manners". They are in very short supply in this day and age!

This is my do-up. I did all but the bore and crankgrind.

    Good luck on your project.

Well, that depends on which board you're looking at:
Anyway, I'm just pointing out, civility goes a long way. I appreciate it, and I'm sure you do too.

And no, I won't be spamming my site here.

That is a very good looking motor. I appreciate the work and effort that goes into some of the more chromed and polished engines, but to me the painted ones really speak.

Flatheads are cool, hope you can set aside the BS around here and learn a thing or two.....oh yea, just because you have over 3000 post on here attacking those less aware of "hot rod lingo" dont make you a hot rodder, just a tuff typer! I spend less and less time on the HAMB.....

Thanks plym49, I didn't see a lot of shiny parts on the flathead in my truck. So it was early ford green!

Yes, much appreciation for the shiny ones as well!

Yes, alot of us on here have "done up", "hopped up" or "souped up" our flatheads. Take your time and look around. Find someone on here with a flatty and look through their posts/threads.

I see you are in Providence RI. A great resource near you is Ron Helger in Little Compton RI, old hotrodder. Also you might want to try talking to Jared of the Alter Boys known as "Angry Frenchman" on here, he is pretty local to you and knows a little about flattys...

  14. ^^^^^^^^This was post number 8 on this thread. Up until that reply there were some good natured jabs with actual help for the guy. THIS WAS THE FIRST NEGATIVE REPLY! And if Dirty Pet**** has been paying attention to the news lately it is not polite to use the t**d word:rolleyes: So the folks that say this guy got hammered really need to sit back and comprehend what they read.

Hey, this "newbie" is older than almost everybody that posted on this thread. :D He wants to build his first flathead. That rules.

I am new here to and do not know as much as most. I am also getting ready to rebuild(mostly stock) a flatty. I still get smart *** comments when I ask, But there are some real nice and informative people on here. Just look past the ****! And welcome anyway.

Yes I hate to be negative and I normally ignore those comments but lately a new group of people who have joined seems to think its cool to badmouth those without the knowledge.
They need to read Ryans Motto...
Spreading the Gospel means sharing the knowledge not belittling those that don't know or understand.
    Give me a hatchet....
Tman, even one guy is too much for me. :)

I just did-up my flatty, but it's not as did-done-upped as most. :D

Do a search here. Read, read, and read more. I read a bunch, bought my motors, tore 'em apart, bought a bunch of parts, and put one back together. My car ain't done, but my flathead runs now.

    Weclome to the HAMB.
Good luck - flatheads are way cool.
    Pete

Also, check in with the Fordbarn (fordbarn.com). Go to early V8 forum. Lot of knowledge there.

I love Fordbarn but the format is HORRENDOUS though. I know "we" all like antique stuff, but I draw the line at message board formats. ;) :D

I'm busy doing up my '46 Ford pickup's flathead right now.
Restoring it. Some parts are hard to come by, because I dont live in the States where resources are plentiful. But I'm getting by. I'll put photos of the project up when it's done.

Can't believe how many rude @***holes are on this site. If all of you had to come to my country, and weren't that well versed or educated in any subject matter you happened to be interested in, the majority of people would only be too willing to help you learn.

    And yes...I'm a F*ck!ng New Guy too...

Some may be a little co****r than others in expressing that I think what we are looking for is a sincere attempt at trying to find answers to questions, especially easy and very general questions, using the search modes first. If my previous post on this thread ruffled feathers, I apologize, but I do not think I stated anything in an attacking fashion. I have offered help and advice in many threads here, been blasted a few times, and sometimes I've stated that the information is on here, just search for it. It is nothing to get ******* in a wad over.

Is the original poster still around? I hope so: his story was heartwarming and he is lucky to have a family like that. There have been plenty of real nicely done up flatheads in response so far, and I am sure we will see a few more.
