Was told to use the chevy clutch disc I have 1 1/8-10 on my ford t-5 five speed 1 1/16-10. Was told no big deal. Any input from professionals? Thanks Gary
I strongly disagree!! On a flat flywheel there will be enough room under the pressure plate for the disc to move out of center .... and that WILL cause an out of balance condition PLUS the sliding action WILL wear your clutch splines... BUY a disc, please..
Going behind a 324 olds in a model a sedan. 390 gears/57 olds posi rearend. Three 94"s mild build up.
I am going to measure a ford disc. The chevy is 1.133" so my guess is that they hold em fairly tight.
Who ever "told" you that crap ,is full of crap..use the proper disc with your tranny.. Unless you are also welding a tractor grille on the front of you car..then it wont matter LOL
It dosent matter what the tranny is bolted to the clutch needs to match your input shaft and flywheel. Pressure plate meets to match the disc and tge flywheel.
Doesn't matter what engine it's going behind. If the clutch disc does not match the input shaft, it will vibrate something awful, and you won't go far before you break the center out of the clutch disc and damage the input shaft splines. New clutch disc with the right center to fit your input shaft is way cheaper than fixing the damage you will cause the minute you let out on the clutch pedal with the wrong disc in there.
