Figure On Rebuilding Directly . I’ve owned a mess of cars from various manufacturers over the years and they all had their pluses and minuses . Coincidentally , I did rebuild most of the Fords I’ve owned .

I'm not biased one way or the other, however I have another (GM) project out the back. Everything I've had since day one, these manufacturers, has been rebuilt mostly from the ground up. ;)

    Hello,

The Chevy-Ford choices were mixed in the early years. The old Fords looked better per model vs the Chevy models. Then as the factory design team in the 50s started to get serious, the Chevy models looked better designed, had more supplemental accessories, optional power models and a cleaner overall look.

Who could discount the 55-56 Chevy sedans that morphed into the one of a kind 57 Chevy and finally the one of a kind 58 Impala ?

The Ford vs Chevy wars went on at the early drags, all led from the street to the drag classes. Each camp had their weapons and the battles were classic. Similar power from the horsepower range of one powerful motor versus another from the “other mother.” 280 hp Chevy vs the 300 hp supercharged Ford made for some battles!!!

    Let the battles begin...

But, back on the street, it was usually all Chevy sedans as far as popularity in the daily drivers. On the early hot rod coupe/sedan side, it was Ford over Chevy.
upload_2022-5-29_5-7-15.png or perhaps, a Chevy in a Ford?
As we all know, it was even a cross over with a SBC motor in early Fords that won the hearts and minds of hot rod folks everywhere.

Or for the die hard hot rod folks, a Ford in a Ford makes up for the battles...

As a teen in the 60's, definitely a Chevy guy, had a few Fords, IMO the SBC was/is the king of engines. Ford was king of early Hot Rodding, flathead speed parts, body styles, sheer numbers available, but GM blew Ford away style wise, performance wise starting in the mid 50's, through the 60's, 70's the big 3 equaled out, up but we can't forget the MOPAR guys. They're all good, the cars today are superior in every way, but I sure miss the styling of the past, you could pick your brand, each had their own styling, just like girls/women, they are all beautiful in their own way.

IMO for many years that's how you made an old Ford fast, put a SBC in it. LOL, that will wind up a few Ford diehards, but as Joe Friday always said "Just the facts" Today all the car manufacturers built fast cars that will turn corners, stop AND get great gas mileage with the AC running.

  7. I am in the inline 6 Chevrolet camp and won't own anything that doesn't have a Bowtie or at least A GM logo.

However, I am not brainwashed they all built some really cool stuff, and they all built a few that were pure junk! I even like some of the British sportscars and motorcycles.

Hear Hear… I’ll like to believe that so there would not be any American $$$ going back to Japan in NASCAR. I root against Toyota every weekend.

I started out with Ford. Then went Chrysler. Finally GM. And for me and my driving style Chrysler’s we’re fastest. GM the most reliable and fast. Fords broke way too easy, got shitty gas mileage, and were too slow and expensive. But nobody builds a better seat than a Ford! Nobody! So for my money GM then Chrysler and if I have to a Ford. Chrysler has the most uncomfortable and shitty seats. But when it comes right down to it I’m a GM man all the way!

GM had twice as many divisions as FoMoCo, threatening a violation of the Sherman Act.
