Technical Ford Y block.

    Hi all a bud has a 50’s Ford Customline.

    He sent me the attached pic asking what the circled item is attached to the fuel pump.

    Is it some sort of vacuum do hicky?

    Sorry I’m a bit green on these things

    ^^^^. I’ve seen lots of yblocks, but never seen one of those. Originally they ran straight off the pump (many installation had a fuel filter). But some of them were pretty sensitive to fuel pressure and a little regulator was a common solution.

    I’m thinking pressure regulator too… I’ll guess a snake oil solution for extremely fantastic fuel mileage. :rolleyes:

    Nice, seems to be a general consensus.

    I did think it could be along those lines. I have an aftermarket regulator and some hose so il spin over and have a play at bypassing this thing.
