Hello, everybody! I recently picked up a 1954 Ford Crestline, got it running and went out for one shakedown cruise but the next day the transmission was clearly not functioning properly. It would take high revs to get it to engage and when it did start to go it was like there was just nothing there. I see Mac's Auto Parts has a rebuild kit for pretty cheap but I can't find any mechanics here in my hometown that can work on it. Anybody got any tips they'd like to share? Thanks for looking. 54 Ford.jpg

I would at least change the fluid and clean the pickup screen first and while the pan is off adjust the bands.

  3. If it isn't engaging until high revs and then not having much oomph, it could be the torque converter.
