Wonder what the deal is on the 55...I see Fairlane trim on the fender but Customline or Mainline hood crest and no chrome eyebrows on headlight hoods?

There was some of debate over that photo on Facebook. A few had suspicions of photoshopping. Mostly because of the prices on the windshields.

I'm thinking that it might be a clip from some movie or an ad photo. It's definitely a newer vintage photo. There's duct tape on the light pole and the Shoebox Ford and the Dark grey Chevy have radial tires. Castrol GTX oil was introduced in Feb 1968. The type of "SLOW" sign has only been around since the mid 70's. The PVC conduit on the light pole is also a more modern item.

I was wondering that myself. You definitely made the right choice.

My first car was a $25 1953 Ford my High School Auto Shop project, I've owned four '53's and three 54's also I've had a few Chevs over the years. " Where were you in '62?" 1511422_10202691441806860_7960209823663039645_n.jpg

62? 15 years still until I was born, but I sure wish we would have had Auto Shop Projects in High School.

I'm the***** on the right, twelve years old. My next door neighbor in the middle and my little brother on the left.

In '62 I was 11, hanging around as much as he'd let me with my 17 year old brother and his buddies. And that always included cars. He had a light blue & white '56 Fairlane hardtop at that time, can't remember the details but I know he pulled the yblock and I think put a 352 in it. I know it was fast. His buddy had a '58 Ford custom - wicked fast too. He quit school a year later and traded his '56 in for a new '63 Galaxy. The guy that bought his '56 Ford wrapped it around a tree, killed instantly. We went to see the car, it was almost unrecognizable.

This was my first 56, 312/auto. I paid $70 for it in 69, sold it a year later for $50 with rods knocking.

The wagon in that picture is a Pontiac and doesn't mean yours should go that high.

It won't go that high. I doubt the Pontiac in the pic did either.

Do my eyes deceive me? It looks as if those rear wheels are set forward a tick on that 56! Wonder what the backstory is there?
