Is that a Dodge truck that someone snuck in between the Fords?

Kinda doubt it - all Fairlanes from the look of it - police would only buy customline or mainline. And what's that in the middle of the grille? Almost looks like a V8 emblem of some sort

 

I think they're right hand drive, I'm not seeing a steering wheel sticking up over the dash on the first car when I magnify the image. Australia/New Zealand?

 

Yep Aussie cars - they are door post cars even with the Fairlane trim, must have been a local package. This is a pic I think I posted before showing this package, number plates are a similar series too.

 

I think the big Fords were King of the road here at the time, were never many Chevs and like Chrysler most were 6 cyl at best. Local Holdens all 6 cyl.
My old man was doing his mechanics apprenticeship with Ford in these days and by 1959/60 was moving into sales as the first Falcons were coming in LHD and being tested and developed for our conditions.
This one has had a rough time of it......

 

That looks like Customline lettering on the front fenders in 54 ford coupe's last two pictures. Different side trim than what we had on USA Customlines. It looks like parts of a roof mounted POLICE sign/light are visible on the front two cars in the police fleet photo.
