"maybe the old way was a better way ?"

Only if you want to pay 3 or 4 bucks for a bottle of pop. The labor involved in transporting, cleaning and refilling the bottles would drive the cost up substantially. That said, I miss the bottles, too. There was something about the ritual of opening a frosty bottle and chugging it down on a hot day, followed by an epic belch. And I miss the little regional soft drinks we had when I was a kid, Like NEHI, NuGrape, Grapette, Mission, etc.

Still takes about the same amount of people to change a battery, as it always has ;)

Nice looking Holley in there, too.

Disneyland. I think something got a little too close to the side of that Merc.

Look at the size of the Lincoln, it's hanging out of the front and rear of the parking space by a good 2'+ at both ends. It dwarfs everything else in view. Good thing they didn't have to parallel park...

Love those Merc phaeton’s not many around today..
Lincoln has AC look in the back window at the clear tubes and the scoop on the rear fender. The Merc doesn’t have AC because it doesn’t have the chrome louver plate on the rear fender. Alway stumped me why the 56 Ford had everything for the AC behind the dash and the Merc/Lincoln had the unit in the trunk.

Interesting read on early Fomoco AC:

    https://blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/35077-1950s-ford-air-conditioning/

The trunk mounted units were made by Novi Equipment Co., and could be line installed or dealer installed. They were also sold to independent automotive AC shops. I recall those units from my childhood in Dallas, TX. They held around 4# of R12 and could freeze the balls off a brass monkey, even on the hottest days. My '55 Merc had one at one time but a previous owner removed it. The only thing left was the 2X4s under the package tray to support the evaporator and blowers. The last one I saw was on eBay a few years ago. It was a complete system and the seller wanted $1800 for it.

She was a favorite of mine, too. the most beautiful, in her day. She certainly makes that '57 more desirable ;)

We'll never know what really happened at the Catalina mooring!
