I don't want to give this a "like", got to be a story there. Too many like that didn't get fixed, just got totaled and parted.

Ok, here's the back story. My Dad ordered and took delivery of the Merc in Dec of 1955. Over the years he took our family all over the US and Canada. He turned the car over to me just before my high school graduation in 1967. I rear ended another car on an ice covered road in Jan 68. No money to fix the car. It went to the scrap yard. Left for the US Air Force and moved on. Fast forward the the 12,000 car Back To The 50's car show in St. Paul Minnesota 2008. Sitting in my lawn chair, watching cars cruise out of the show , I spied this white Merc. I ran out in the lane and stopped the car ! Told the driver that if he ever wanted to sell the car to call me. I handed him my business card. About 4 months later he called me. Over the next 14 years ,we became fast friends. We met up at the 50's several times. Sadly, his health deteriorated and the Canadian government revoked his driver license about three years ago. After about eight months of negotiations and paperwork, I took delivery of the car last Sept. ( the shot below was taken seconds before i rushed out to stop Don at the Car show.) FILE37821.JPG

Now that story I will give a like! Similar story to my 55 except my first one didn't get wrecked or scrapped as far as I know.

Nope. Wisconsin winters are brutal. The amount of salt applied to our roads has actually decreased in recent years. It is still enough to make Swiss cheese out of sheetmetal.

Since wrecked cars have made their way to this thread, here is my '58 Edsel Corsair, with the 410 MEL engine.

It was fixed and painted a metallic, emerald green. I kept it, until I got my '60 Ford Galaxie

Through the 40's and 50's, Sewell builds a loyal following with Lincoln-Mercury and Ford dealerships.
