This is for my V8-60 powered belly/drop tank project. The V8 -60 transmission will be bolted directly to the rear axle. The transmission output is one inch 6 spline, the axle 1-1/8 inch 6 spline. It's time to build a frame so I need to mock up the driveline .... I figure to buy an old torque and cut off the ends to build a rigid tube as short as possible. Are all later Ford torque tube U-joints one inch 6 spline on the******* end? What is the combo of parts I need? This is not a race car but a seldom driven fun thing so no need for excessive engineering The local agriculture equipment parts house doesn't have one inch 6 spline couplings Thanks, and with the help I got here this project is moving along.
6 spline driveshaft couplers are easy to find. You may get one when you scrounge your extra torque tube. I've never had V8-60 trans or u-joint in front of me so I can't say for for certain but I'd guess its the same as a regular flathead trans u-joint as far as design is concerned....just smaller dimensionally. If that's the case I'd think cutting off the the splined portion and mating it to the driveshaft coupler should not be too tough a problem for a machine shop.
