My brother was out hunting moose and tripped over this in the woods... What is it?? At first I thought it was a 35-36 Ford pickup cab but when I looked closer at the pictures he took I saw that the beading on the cab was different and also the dash looks different... Anybody recognize it? http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f98/Hebster52/DSC04735.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f98/Hebster52/DSC04737.jpg
Been Googling around and it appears to be a so called Rhein Ford cab... late 30's to early 50's German built Ford pickups and trucks... Basically the same as the American 30's cabs..
is that a road up behind it? 36 & older if its ford. hook on drag it home & plant flowers in it in the front yard. after you do a handstand inside it to push the bird bath out of that roof. cool find!
No roads but some fields behind. The cab is the same as on the first in the link below: http://www.bedeco.de/oldtimer/lkw/lkw_ford.html The German cabs basically used the same cowls but were wider in the rear.
ahhhh had a shape like a "wedge" kinda like the late 40's/early 50's willys overlands did... i know i'm biased, but i like that style... mostly cause i have one (willys) and also cause i have a big ass that digs the wide cab
i see that now too its not a 35-36 i just saw the flat windshield its probably a 48. i cant see the dash.
2-Toned: There are 2 links below the picture for additional pics... Rustymetal: There are pretty much of the Moose's.. So every year we have these annual hunting of the moose's to minimize the nasty car accidents... This year we are allowed to hunt down 65925 moose's just in our tiny country...
Herbster, Is this what you use to hunt moose in Finland? (For those who don't know Finnish weapons, its a 9mm Suomi submachinegun. The kind that gave the Russians such a headache in "39"). These weapons are available over here as "parts kits" after they are torch-cut to BATF (Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms) specifications to make them Non-guns. If I ever do a Military themed rod I'd love to include a pair of those beautiflully ugly vented barrel jackets frenched into the hood, perhaps with some LED turn-signals in the muzzles. Probably too tacky for most folks taste, but it would clear traffic!
i found the same kinda truck this weekend i think.same problem. the front says its a 49 but the cab says its a 36-37 ?
No, we dont use the "Suomi konepistooli" anymore... I had the opporunity to shoot with them at one shootingcamp when I was in the army. It was great fun but very hard to hit the target due to the fact that it was a small machinegun with lots of power and a powerfull recoil. You had a tendency to shoot over the target... My brother uses the Tikka T3 Varmint Stainless: http://www.berettausa.com/product/rifles/series_page.cfm?currentseries=33
full auto Kalashnikov. . . "AK-47, the very best they is. . . when you absolutly positivly got to kill every muthafucka in da room? accept no substitutes" Samuel L Jackson
Flowers hell, mine was at least that bad judging by that picture, and it's very nice now, grab it and build it!
I think I forgot to post these but me and my kid went out in the forests hunging down some old wrecks on New Years Day.... I had found this Ford Taunus 1939 many years ago and I started to think about it the past month. So I decided to go check if I first of all would find it again and see what shape it is today. And after that my brother joined in and we went to look at the Ford pickup/truck cab he found in October while he was out hunting Moose's...
Wow, I need to go hunting...LOL I did know where there was a model A coupe body sitting in the woods. I found while deer hunting. I wonder if it's still there...
Looks like the Rhein cab. German built Fords used them for several years, which would explain the '49 with the same cab. I have only seen one of these, and it was on a '41.
So far, everything anyone has posted on this thread is NOT a 35-37 Ford Pickup Cab. The big truck and small trucks of Ford shared the same cab these years. The one redneck posted is in the 40s. The one Herb posted I would guess is a late 30s or early 40s something, but NOT a 35-37 Ford. Attached is a 1935 Ford. The 37 is not much different: with a peaked roof, a different reveal body line, and a different way the bottome of the A Pillar meets the cowl. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, its a neat looking cab, whatever it is.
Yes, the cab I posted is most likely a Rhein Ford (German built) from the 40's something. The cowl and windshield is about the same as on the 30's US built Fords but the cab is much wider on the back. The waistline on the Rhein Ford cabs differ from US built too. It is just one simple bulge on the Rhein's and on the US cabs more detailled. Nice -35 Pickup you have there Dirk35!! I wish I could start work on my -36 PU soon too...
We have a few moose here. The first picture I took in my backyard a couple of days ago and the picture of the young bull was taken in the street in front of my house I was about 15 feet away from the bull . Dawg
the cab looks like my dads 44 ton and a half ford. the body line is identical but the cab looks a little wider in the rear heres the link to a pic i have of it on here. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=266959&d=1169392326
Hebster: Go and get them before its too late, you know the value of scrap iron in these days here... I just heard one case but it was too late, all scrapped already. I hate moose btw... --mika
ok before someone corrects me on here my dad took one look at the pic and pointed out a bunch of differences between his truck and the cab pictured. i retract my picture and apologize for being blind! I would definatly grab up both vehicles and if nothing else store them for a later project or for someone else but dont let them get crushed.
