I know that you can click the thread ****on to organize posts but then you get everything old and new. It works well for searching through the tech archieve but instead of general discussion it would be nice to have different pages for posts on Drivetrain, suspension, body, etc, and maybe even different pages for talks about different cars, maybe group them by model year or something. That way if you want to post and read about different topics it stays current.

With the general discussion board there are like 4 -5 pages of new posts a day so you have to do alot of scanning through ***les to find something you are interested in.

so instead of the handful of sections there are now, you want to divide them into hundreds?
i have a suggestion, learn to use the search function to locate stuff that is best suited to your interests

I dont think I said hundreds but maybe a dozen or so would do. Aside from marketplace and archives there are not a "handful" of sections there is one just one section for all discussions and all topics.

Dont you think it would be nice if you wanted to discuss suspension that there is a suspension section for example. Now with general discussion if you ask a question the next day it is on page 6 and no one sees it.

Im not trying to ruffle your feathers just making a suggestion in the suggestion section, doesnt that make sense?

  4. It's like that one drawer in the toolbox - every****ing thing is in there!! It's fun to look to see what's in there but God help you if you need to find something.

The search function here sort of ****s. I cant even find stuff in my own posts and i know exactly what im looking for. if the poster misspelled it forget it you aimt gonna find it with a search. (deth woble, cal ect ) but here's what I do , go to google type HAMB and what it is that you are looking for. That gets good results .

Having some subcategories might be helpful as long as the contributors were mindful of where they were making their submissions. But things tend to be done pretty "casually" around here, which is part of the appeal of the place.

It would be helpful when doing a search by forum ***le if the ***les were more standardized but that doesn't work all that well with forum ***les like "hey guyz---i need HELP!!!", "DOES THIS LOOK RIGHT?!?!?" and "Finally started working On The 'ol pick up". Maybe searching the contents of the post would work better, as long as you remember to use search terms like "carby" and "dizzy" and "tube-thing".

If there's several threads that you keep referring back too, how about bookmarking them in your browser? To cut down on the clutter open a new "Favorites" folder and name it something like "HAMB Links" and save links to individual threads in that folder. You should be able to also rename each thread you bookmark with a simpler name like "Front Suspension", "Brakes" or "Interiors".

the guys don't follow the rules now. how many questions do we get about not being able to post a reply in the cl***ifieds. look at how many dumb***es have posted questions about their vehicle in this section alone that had to be moved.
do you think it would really tidy up this place. what if a guy doesn't post about his hemi in the engine section, instead he posts it in the general conversation section like he's done in the past? it will just increase the moderators work load.
adding more sections has been suggested many times in the past and each time it's been shot down. another reason against it was it would allow more spots for spammers to post their ****. the hamb is the most popular hotrod related site on the internet, it didn't get that way by not doing something right. if it's not broke, don't break it.

Concur! But, even with Google and HAMB search, I still can't find things that easily some times. But, you just have to dive in and do the leg work I guess...or start a new thread and someone else will find it and complain that it's already been a thread...

If the hamb was split into different sections like that the chances that the right person would see a thread that needed their input would diminish greatly.

I agree, and there would be threads where people wouldn't know how to categorize it so they'd be in two different areas or in the general HAMB area and
