If one attempts to post a reasonable answer to a legitimate question, by the time one hits the "post quick reply", one receives the infamous "you do not have permission to post".

One then must copy one's attempted post, refresh the page, re-signin, and repost.

Once this is done, if one found the thread from a search, one must redo the search.

Surely, there is a setting on the forum setup that would allow for a post taking longer than it takes a blown Willys to do an 1/8th mile!!!

And yes, I know, the older I get the more cranky I get, but this is ridiculous!

Never experienced this but I don't ever use the "Post Quick Reply",figuring there is a short window for response.,obviously if it takes a while to answer giving the question deep thought maybe you should use the post reply. HRP

    Use the regular reply.

Did you click the "remember me" box when you logged in ?

If not - it timed out.

    Clean out your cookies also.

Last question - on cable or a phone line ?

Start over and if it continues let Ryan or me know.

As far as getting older and patience..... you have no patience getting older ?
Don't hurry up - life is short as it is.

Seriously - patience works best and hopefully figure out what you are experiencing and may have a solution. It may be on your end too.
    We'll see.

OK kids..try this...on Internet Explorer -> go to Tools -> Internet Options and make sure Delete browser history on exit is not checked, click Apply and then OK. Hope this helps - Monty

Sorry for the h***le. That problem happens when your browser is out of memory. Here is how you can beat it:

    1. Clear the cache and temporary internet files from your browsers memory.

    2. Next time you login, click the "remember me" box.

After that, you will be good to go!

    Thanks,

I thought this post was about being put in timeout for posting in the wrong forum. I am relieved.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I am reasonably certain that neither memory nor cache files apply. I have 8 gig memory, and I cleared the cache yesterday when told it would solve a problem on ebay (it didn't).

I never check the remember me box. Many years ago, I was told by some very sharp techs that staying connected was a good way to help hackers get into our system. If this is no longer true, then checking the remember me box will probably solve the issue.

Ryan, would you please comment on the hacker issue? As stated, the information is several years old, and I am certainly willing to listen to modern techs.

Again, thanks to all that have replied.

And Ryan, I use sbcglobal.net for an IP. And I use A. T. & T. U-verse which is supposed to be better than the DSL I was using.

Thanks Ryan, as far as your carb, we haven't rebuilt a carb in two years because of the demand for our made in USA rebuilding kits. Carmen Fuso has an excellent reputation on Buick carbs from the AACA forum.

  11. I always get a window to log back on when I time out, I have been timing out for 10 years. I always figured it is because of the way that my browser is set up but I could be wrong.

Anyway I am just throwing that out there, not a copmplaint and I am not going to change anything now. I just deal with it.

You're safe. The corner is already full of timed out guys... and one girl.
*** to think of it maybe that's why they're still in the corner. :D Now play fair.
