  2. wow....there's still hope, great score, astounded that anyone would have 'stalled' on grabing that when the opportunity is there, stoked that it landed in your hands, as I know you'll make it 'right'.

like a road crash, any shots of the remaining floor/body mounting area's to get it to sit that screwed up, as I guess the chassis really isn't modified to create that weird transition from the front sheetmetal to the body.

Anyhow, again, great score, that body has soul, although the front sheetmetal would be wall art, sacrificed to the crazy gods, although I can imagine a big hemi hiding that firewall:)

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:D

Nice find. I love it how some things are just meant to be, and there is no other way to explain it.

Umm, I'm sorta confused with what you are trying to say here, have you seen this car before in the mid 80's? Please elaborate man, that would be great!

I think he meant "last seen" maybe?

How the hell could 5 people pass on that?
Geez, I thought my expectations were kinda high, and that would exceed even mine. Wow!

    Great score!
I'll expect to see it on a future cover.....waiting.....it's not done yet?:D:p

Well after a couple nights of serious deliberation and studying my archives of pictures, info, early books and mags, I have decided a direction in which I want to go. As many of you know my passion is in the 40's and early 50's lakes racing. My Model A is currently going through a pretty good rebuild phase with a hand built track nose from a very well known bodyman, and I'm changing up some things that I have always envisioned, but I never had the parts to do until now.
Anyway, this project is still a year or two out (a '36 gasser drag truck is underway), but after that one is done I think this one may be put on the chopping block (literally). Although my dad's gray '34 is a lakes car, this one is going to be another, with the full entire treatment-Nikamp style nose, v8 60 axle, bellypan, old home made quickchanger, '49 olds 303, and of course a full array of crescent needle gauges, and so on...This was my good friend Logan Davis' old coupe which is basically the platform that is in my head, but mine will be chopped even more. Somewhat along the lines of the Pierson coupe, So Cal coupe, my dads, and many more other ideas and influence that clutters my brain..enjoy

    How it really is:

    Chopped even more-my plan:

  14. I bet those 5 guys were restorers! They are gonna be pissed that its going get the knife!!haha

I'll be looking out to watch for this one when it gets started. I like the direction.

Great score man. I'm diggin' your plan here. The Pierson coupe is one of my all time favs and your plan is looking just about as mean. Can't wait to see it done.

Man I love the plan as I am getting ready to build a 3w myself (late 40's style) but I hate to see you cut up a car that might have some serious history. Hopefully the story behind it in the next couple months to get you stoked on resto work. Either way you are going to have a cool car but only one will win out on meaningful.

As much as I like the snout on that car above, I would be tempted to copy the Rolling Bones snout as it's far more pleasing to the eye.

Obviously the Pierson and So-Cal coupe are the best looking comp coupes because of their history and such but I loved this one when I seen it at the jalopyrama.

Oh and just another $.02 that you didn't ask for, the wheel base on the blue one could be about 2" or so less. That sucker is stretched out!!!

  19. Very cool score. I am willing to bet though, that your thread title not withstanding, that it was not a Drag car. Too much custom work in the body and styling to have been a serious drag car. I bet it was more of a Custom.

  20. I told you guys. It's in his frickin' DNA. I don't know that car had any serious history of any note. The car will have more history after Rory gets done with it then it probably ever had. I like your vision kid. Then again, We think alike. That's why were freinds. Send me some pictures of your Dad's stuff. Did you see my build thread? Talk to you guys soon.

Yeah I too doubt that it was some kind of serious drag car, it was most likely a weekend type of drag car if that. We will see what unvails as far as past history goes, but I have done lots of research on many cars and hot rods from the 40's even up through the 70's, and have never seen anything on this car, therefor it most likely is nothing significant but just another old coupe that had some lead work done to keep up with the "trend of the times" along with a hemi like everyone else was doing. Either way, this thing will turn out to be something fun to build in the future and go out and drive the shit out of just like the rest of my cars.:)

WOW!!!!!! Looks like your buddy Logan had some insane vision, that car is "TITS"
Well, nothing screams Sinister Speed more so than a severely chopped-track nosed 33/34 in my eyes! I too have a plan to build a rendition of the Pierson car on my next build, hopefully sooner than later!

D Rod, your coupe is badass..I have stalked your build thread since you posted it, looks badass man! Are you the one that I talked to down at the Fathers day show in Pomona this year when I sold you the gauge panel with the pressure pump in it?? I think that was you, you were with Mel from the Oilers I believe.. Yeah Logan Davis is a great guy, and even a better craftsman- his cars are unbelievable. As for now this coupe is just a pile of thoughts and ideas, but for now hopefully I can find a little bit of background on this car just to see what it went through throughout its life. I'm glad I will be the one to give this car a second chance, for who knows where and what it would have ended up as hahaha.

    Wow,

Maybe I should have waited for a 33. Great car.

    Congratualtions and Merry Christmas.

  30. Great score! Did you get paperwork with the car? Cuz you should just be able to trace the last registered owners and find out where it came from. Even from the VIN # on the frame.
Can't wait to see you tackle this one!
