thanks to Brandy for shrinking them. I might get the truk to resell, I don't have room for it at home
I think others will agree that you have a 1933 or 1934 one ton Ford there. Cab to grill will bolt onto a pickup chassis, so will the fenders.
I argee......From what I can see in the photos........the firewall is a part of the cab. A 32 firewall bolts out......and is a separate piece. .
It looks like a '33, since it is missing the additional reveal along the back of the cab. Something funny about the doors also. Have they had the tops chopped off, or is it some wierd Aussie pillarless version
32 or 33, NOT a 34, prolly a 33 since as others have noted the firewall looks welded in. Some weirdass doors, either cut off at the window opening, or some kinda half doors I've never seen before. Also odd that it doesn't have a visor on it, they're stamped into the roof panel (ie, it's all one piece) on US trucks. Maybe the doors and lack of visor were some export thing? I know very little sometimes lol. Here in the states, the cab, if in good condition, would be worth a grand. Solid grilleshell wiil bring $300 at a minimum, so yeah, grab it to resell or keep.
Besides no visor, it appears to have a ribbed roof. Also the rear body line isn't quite the same as a US version. I bet the body has alot more wood in it too.
You guys are talking about American body years. Australian bodys may and are made differntly from ours. For instance, their '32 Phaeton doesn't have any seams down the back. This cab has just the two belt ribs across the back like our '32. I think '33 had three ribs? and 34 had that big fat bulge across the back at the belt line. They may have just been a year ahead on the firewall? On'y an Ozzy would be an expert....
I wonder if this truck started life as a 1933 Standard Panel on a 131 1/2 wheelbase chassis? Note the lack of a visor, and that brake in the roof just above the back upper door corner. Cut the delivery body off there add a pickup rear panel, wack the tops off the doors and you are ready to hit the Outback.
I wouldn't scrutinize it too much..............freakin things got right hand steering. So it's prolly an export thing or maybe they had factories in Austalia at that time? Where's a guru when you need one? Ewwwww I know.......................... xxx Brandy
From memory it was a vanguard ute, I will have a look on saturday when i pick up the 57 cuzzi sitting there
up near wangarratta, my students told me about it the guy is selling everything, I found doors and quaters for my 22 dodge. Some other cars thier where early finned holdens approx 6 2 desoto tooth grill models ( my mate is looking at them) heaps of 38/39 chevs cool 38 bedford delivery with no side windows 28 dodge sedan photo attached 26 plymouth tourer 100% complete 28 dodge tourer 100% complete heaps of pommy crap few tractors moke zd fairlane no running gear theres more but I can't remeber what commer van
I tend to think its a 33, but hey, I'd call it a 32 just for the novelty of the arguments...... There is some potential in most of those cars, just wish I was closer. Pickupwise, I'd keep the cab, doors and grill (including the surround) and sell of whatever else. If you were desperate for cash then I'd sell it all, and buy one nice project, but remember........steel is getting hard to find (unless you sell that cab to me then its as common as that holden stuff..... ) Cheers, Drewfus
It's just an old truck, I don't think it's worth much...you should just let me have it and you won't have to worry about it anymore...
The only thing that I can positively identify is the 1934 Ford commercial grill. I don't think the rest of the cab is a Ford at all. The doors look like they came off an open car. The visor on the 32-34 trucks is part of the roof and not removable. It looks like a great start on a roadster P/U...you don't have to cut the doors!!
Told you I'd find a guru!! Brandy, It is a 33 Aussie Half door Truck. The only thing USA style is the Cowl and front clip. The doors are wood framed and different shape to Yankee stuff. The Cab Back and roof are Ford Australia items which differ to Yankee stuff and the whole truck is framed with wood (subframe, doors, and roof braces). Still the fronts are hard to find and you could make a roadster ute from the cowl and doors and lower part of the cab which would be pretty cool at Paso next year. I still have 11 Aussie Utes in my yard Brandy if you need one. Good Bombs too. Look after yourself girl, and it's freezing here at present. David Now where's my cookie? Toby, I've got a running promise for a Ute from David. He told me when I get to Oz, I can pick one from his yard and ship her home..............It's cuz I'm a good girl. xxx Brandy
The green coupe in the background looks like a Chevy ute or a bedford ute but with a local body from the Holden Coach Builders(before they became General Motors Holden)
David's a good man, he takes pity on ugly chicks. Let me know if you need anything else identified. xxx Brandy
