I thought I'd let everyone know what I came across this week. You see, my wifes grandfather is a car nut of sorts. He's been into restoring and repairing old cars for resale for many many years. He is now pushing 80 years old so he really likes that I'm restoring my old Merc. I supposed he's p***ing the torch on to me. About 30 of his 47 acres is covered in cars and parts so I get out and go snooping on his property. You'll never believe what I found: a '38 Packard, 2 '50 Buicks, '73 Cuda, '74 Camaro, '66 Mustang, 'Olds 442, '70 Chevelle, a couple of Satellites (sp?), a '50 something panel truck, a '50 something wrecker...the list goes on and on! He acted like it was no big deal and told me when I finished the Merc I could take my pick of what I wanted. He's a good man! It's just crazy that I've been married to my wife for a little over 4 years and we dated a little longer than that before we were married. I never thought he had these treasures just sitting around. I suppose he was just hiding them. I'm one of the lucky ones. My wife thinks it's totally normal to have a '50 Merc in the garage getting restored. 1LowSled
You are a truely lucky man. Extra cool points for the wife, sounds like she was pre-brokein to the car habit.
It's always good to have an old lady that understands you having old cars and it's even better if they like going to car shows with U
Having a wife who understands is priceless.....I bought an all steel A (poss the best A roadster in the UK!!... for real) without telling her, like the most expensive thing I have ever bought apart from my house....OK I did get some grief but that was mainly as I have a one car garage and that had a 27 T in it so one of them had to live on the drive till the T sold (and that took 6 months) She really is the best and she is as fit as **** too, Christ she's gorgous and I'm short, fat and hairy and she lets me spend all our money on car!!!!
I'm originally from WVa, I could never find **** there. I used to do a lot of parts running, I was all over the southern half of the state, and rarely saw anything. I did know a guy right outside of charleston with a old junkyard up on a hill, but those cars were long picked over. The thing with WV is that it's easy to hide things way out of sight!
