Updates start on page 9 So heres the story: I started working a new job about a year ago, i met this customer that stops by once in a while, we got to talking and found a similar interest, old cars, i told him i had a 34 p/u, and a 34 sedan, then i told him i was in the midts of building a chopped 32 coupe, his response: "oh, i have one of them too, i drove it in high school and still have it!" So i said, oh cool, but i was thinking "suuurrrreee" , well he had to go so i didnt find out much more about it. a couple of weeks go buy and he stopped by again, so we were talking about cars again, and he talked about his coupe again, then asked if i wanted to come see it, "well hell ya", so he stopped by at about 6:00 when i got off of work, and he told me to follow him, so we took a left and went about 3 blocks up the road and pulled into a driveway, i was thinking this cant be it, we were just stopping here to get something, but i was wrong, he walks over to a small garage and slide open the door, my jaw dropped, holy shit, there sits a CHOPPED 32 ford coupe, with a flathead, three twos offy heads, peaked grille shell, and wide whites (flat of course) all covered in piles of dust!! so i looked at him and looked at the car, and asked him what year he graduated high school in, he said 1956!!!!!!!!!!! Hes had the car since 1956, the last time its been on the road is 1964, and the last time he had it out was when it moved resting places in 1984!!! Well the car is NOT for sale, but now its at my house, and plans are to restore it back to the way it was in 1956, and to be driven to his 50th year class reunion in 2006. So i get to work on a REAl HOT ROD, i cant believe it, ive just been staring at it the last few days, studying looking, gasping, smiling, its really really cool. and thats where were at now. heres some pics
its chopped 3 ish inches, has a 48 merc truck block with a 4"stroke merc crank, 39 trans w/ linclon gears, 411 rear gears, dropped axle, s-w gauges in a strait five panel, 40 ford column, converted to 8 volts,(yeah 8 volts, didnt even make it to 12!!) and much much more.
I wish thats all i could do to it, the motor is stuck so its got get gone through, im still trying to convince him to do that, leave it the way it is, all dusty
Its okay if your into that sort of thing Hope you can communicate to him the importants of the condition of that car. Cool story
at least hes not going yuppy with it, luckily he didnt listen to all his buddys that wanted him to make it all fancy, its just going to be freshened up, nothing changed, just clean, and a fresh coat of primer. I would love to drive it the way it is, i wouldnt even clean the windshield!! like i said before, it could be worse!
i know a guy also who cant even drive anymore due to being legally blind that has 7 model a's on his property including a former lakes car and one that he hot rodded in 1958. just sitting there in his garage....he tinkers with them a bit but can drive em........the really cool thing about it is seeing some really true unmolested hot rods..... I need to pay him a visit.
If I was him I'd clear out a place in my living room and put it there, as is. Very cool story. Keep us updated with pics, pleeeeeaaase!!!!! Man if that car could talk.
when you pay him a visit offer to take for a ride in one of his cars!!! every couple of weeks take him for ride in another of his cars. it would make both of your days. later jim
this car is fucking intense. it's unreal, like looking back into the 50s; i didn't really believe it until i touched it myself.....
Man u must live right....thats a helluva score!! U lucky dog !! Just goes to show ya....theyre still out there !! Rat
It doesn't get much cooler than that. That car is just begging to be freshened up and driven the way it looks now. Just too fuckin' cool.
OMG!!!! That is one fantastic examle of the real thing. It is pure text book. As far as cleaning it, it deserves to be restored to it former glory. In the day I'm sure the owner took alot of pride in owning it and would have kept it nice. He was lucky to find you to help him put it back into opperation. I feel it was pure fait for you two to meet. Please keep us updated, and thanks for sharing with us.
