Technical FOUND: a REAL survivor 32, neat pics too

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by titus, Apr 20, 2005.

  1. You're a lucky guy to be able to share in this guys story.
But the cool part to me is not that you found it, but that this guy kept it since highschool! No parents, girlfriends, wive(s?) told him "it's me or the car." No stupid snotty nose kid broke out the windows, no punk son "rat rodded" it, no bad decisions to give it the Boydster treatment...nothing. He waited. Maybe he had a plan, maybe not. But he surely knew what he had. He waited some more, and at the perfect time in his life to resurrect this tribute to his youth, when he has a little more time (assuming he's retired because he's at least 65 yo) to deal with it. When all the people in his life that remember him and that car will take notice-at the golden anniversary of his high school graduation...WHAM! Here I am, just as bitchin' as you remember!
The only thing that would top this story off is if the jock that stole his hot girlfriend is fat, bald and broke! :D

I think there are a lot more of these out there. I'm working on one now. A 32 roadster built in the 50's. I know (lol)---- but it's true. The guy isn't ready to sell yet. I hope I don't miss the window of opportunity!!

  5. What an awesome car! I would have pissed myself if I found that in a barn. Try to leave some character in it when you restore it (dont make it perfect) and make sure its exactly the way it was in '55. Keep us posted!

  6. First get Steve Coonan to come shoot it. Then I'd change the fuel lines they look like they may be hard. Check the brake lines (it does have juice brakes right?) Don't bother with the new primer.

Good luck finding an 8 volt battery??

the reunion is coming up this summer, so we have some time.

Loui actually just dropped the body back off the other day, i had him take it home while i moved and got settled in, the motor is in the machine shop and should be all rebuilt very soon, im gonna get her pulled back in the shop when i get the rest of it pollied, tomorrow that is!

plans are to yank apart the brakes and rear end and goe through all of that stuff, and gut the old wiring, and clean stuff up.

the paint is gonna stay! for now, i finally convinced him to leave it alone, im glad.

heres a couple of pic when he dropped it off, and ill try and get some updates on it tomrrow.

Now that's weird. I'm lookin' at 'em right now! The original pics Titus posted are gone so I grabbed the 2nd set he posted and put them up here a little while ago. Are their little red X's where the pics should be or something?

  30. Way Frickin Cool! I think it's fantastic that he's going to be able to drive it to his 50th Highschool reunion! It's stuff like this that keeps me awake at night pondering where the next one is. I'm working on a lead for an original 32 with an Ardun (the ultimate find for me) I know the car exists, just need to see if there is a way to "wrestle" it loose . . . we'll see if it pans out. I think I'd cut both nuts off for an Ardun --- maybe a leg too.
