Nothing cooler than a full fendered rod that has survived for the last 40+ years. Can't wait to see the updates!
Thanx...to both of you for sharin and postin the story. Truely the holy grail of what most of us are all about. While I agree at some level to make it safe and usable as is, it really should go back to it's days when it was new. THAT would be the ultimate example of how it was. Full docs and photos need to be kept. I'm happy for both of you and for all of us on these pages that get to see it.
heres some pics[/QUOTE] Everyone is drooling, but I can't see any pics. Any idea what is going on with that? I don't see a link or pics at all. gas4bood '32 woodie
Wow, I don't think that words can describe how incredibly awesome that is. Get that flattie going and drive, don't even bother washin' it! RRR
unfortunatly not, still sitting in the pole shed waiting for the motor to get back from the machine shop. anybody in the st paul area have a running flathead theyd want to sell or borrow out for a summer? we just want to get it driving to the 50th high school reunion. thanks Titus
HOLY*****!!! his old classmates will***** themselves whe he comes rolling up in that thing. the same damn hot rod he had in highschool. AMAZING!!! just that ride alone is gonna be a thrill for the old guy for sure. not to mention just being able to drive it again. it's gotta make him feel like a kid again. what memorys it'll likely bring back when he gets behind the wheel again. TOO COOL!!!
The story and the car are great. It's a cool thing you bringing it back to life. In 75 my cousin had two Vette's. A 58 (my birth year) and a 68 with LT1 motor. I heard they were up for sale so I talked to my dad and he said if I could pay for it I could have it. Went to my cousins and he had just sold the 58 (the car I wanted). I bought the 68 and though I had a lot of fun I never loved the car. The guy that bought the 58 built a room around it in his house. The room had doors for the car to go through but it never left. He died recently. Didn't hear what happened to the Vette. There a lot of cool stories out there. Car guys love the folk lore. It's in the blood. Rodman
I say put it back to how it was when the guy fell in love with it... It's funny... Alot of times when you see these long forgotten hot rods pop up they are kind of silly looking... Still cool cuz of the history, but usually they have some slightly wacky stuff going on. This car, however, is pretty much perfect. VERY cool.
talk him out of primer just as is is way better let him see this site and replys maybe that will work ,,,,hoe cool,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,flyn
Oh, i did convince him to leave it just the way it is, dust and all! Ryan, i agree, it looks great just the way it is, the only thing is he has the original reversed 15's on the back but stuck some roller 16's on the front, but he still has the 15's for the front and they are going back on it. titus
Is everything ready except the block? Did you do the carbs, fuel lines, brakes, etc. that need to be gone through?
if you were closer i'd offer my, almost, new flatty- i can't let my baby go that far from home...... might try the fordbarn/msn site if either of you is a member.....surely something will come up here....
that's amaizing man, keep us posted! THE ONLY THING THE OLD GUYS AROUND THE CORNER FROM MY HOUSE HAVE ARE CARDBOARD BOXS, AND A CRACK PIPES!!!!!!!
Is there a problem with the flatmotor? Did they find cracks or something, or are they just taking too long? Is someone with flathead experience doing the work??
It has that look that if you washed, polished, and waxed it, that old paint might have some shine left. (it isn't primer, is it?) THAT would be the way to go.
