  2. If he had not saved them back in 1970 how many would still be around today ? not many i bet !! If he got enough reasonable offers and added up how much he could make in a short time you may get lucky,or not, worth a try. JW

The hell of it is, the guy will cockle off and his heirs who live in Hawaii will sell the place to a developer and they'll squash all the tin and put up condo's!

Reminds me of a story. Hell everything reminds me of a story! Long long ago in central Illinois I belonged to an antique car club. Mostly old farts who thought every nut and bolt had to be original. I had a 31 Model A coupe I was restoring, And a 1933 Chevy I was restoring but my later 39 Ford, 55 Chevys, etc, were rods. This was in maybe 1962.

Being a reasonably intelligent young lad I decided that if a Model A was fun a Model T should be funner! I wanted a later Model T. A member had at least two of every model of 1926-27 T he could find. Plus enough parts to build dozens more. Most was stored in small sheds, chicken coups and lean-tos.
Unlike this dude in Oklahoma, ole Carl restored and worked on his T's. He had at least one 26 roadster pick up, a coupe, touring, and a few others restored. Also a row of what he called future projects. But Carl not only worked on his T's, he and his wife drove them. In fact a group of other Model T owners often took 400-500 mile trips in their Model T Fords. I was impressed!

I became friends with Carl and often visited to tour his T heaven. I'd already found out from other club members that ole Carl wouldn't sell a hubcap or anything T related. But I asked. Always no, for several years. "Don't want no kid makin a hotrod outta one of my Model T's."
One day ole Carl took me out to his storage shed and we began walking down the line of unrestored but nice Model T touring cars. "Pick one out of these and I'll make sure you get everything that is needed to make a running T." Even quoted me a price that I could afford. I was shocked but informed him I would be more interested in a coupe or roadster. "Take one of these or none," was Carl's answer.
I didn't know a lot about Model T's but decided the older of his 1926 touring's was what I wanted. Yes, they did make changes in 1926. Anyway, the other car club members couldn't believe ole Carl sold a car. Especially to some damned kid.
But Carl made some rules. He was gonna come to my house to check on my progress and I better restore it original. I went so far as to go to Greenfield Village and photograph the 10,000 millionth'(or 100 millionth, whatever) T, a 26 touring, and duplicate it.
In 1994 I trailered my T to Florida and eventually traded it for another rod. it is now someplace in a museum and ole Carl is in Model T heaven. For some strange reason I never checked to see what happened to his stash of 26-27 T's.
The point being, we collect things because we enjoy it. We sell things if we want to and keep them because we can. Ole Carl never sold another T part as far as I know. This Oklahoma guy may seem odd and mean. But it's his land and his cars. If he didn't collect those T's over the years you may be opening a can of soup with part of one now.
But there's no way I could pass by that place and look in the yard without shedding a tear or being pissed!

Back up for the GREAT pics.

  9. He put a Pilot House Dodge 1/2-ton pickup on the corner for sale a few months ago. It's priced pretty fair at $1,500, last I saw it. I think the one time I spoke with him, he must have been pissed about something beforehand, because I know a couple of other local guys that have spoken with him regularly and say he's actually a pretty easy guy to get along with. Maybe I'll go chat with him about the Dodge and see where that goes.
