I get frustrated because it seems like my engine rebuild project on my car is taking forever. I move slower these days and have lots of other outside commitments. I was just thinking the other day that if I just keep plugging away at it, then all is good! No prizes for getting it done fast!

Pat, I’m glad to hear that you are making progress on your 57. The more that you get done the better that you will feel about it and the more wind that will fill your sails. Soon you will be driving it. Sorry about your wife.

Just saw your thread today, very sorry for your loss. I too am in the process of getting my’57 out of its 30 year hibernation. Looking forward to your progress. Always have loved them in Sierra Gold, though mine will have to make do ; with it’s Dusk Pearl primer: ED9CAAE1-F95F-4D35-9104-E0F271B5EA91.jpeg 1B831710-0F1E-4E2F-8949-B4C55092675A.jpeg 72C78257-D90C-4DEF-92C6-45CF1ACE6260.jpeg

Just my 2 cents worth. I am 76 and slowly working on an ot 68 El Camino that has been in my family since my dad bought it on April 4th, 1968. I inherited it in 1990 upon my father's death. It's in the family and my youngest son will get when I croak. It has a half million miles on it, gone through 3 engines and 4 transmissions. Iam slowly building a destroked 400, down to 377. It has a hydraulic roller cam, roller rockers, and Dart heads. I also modifying a 90 tuned port system for it.i am mixing and matching parts from a couple TPI engines to get just what I want. I have a Corvette harness and a Camaro harness and taking the best of both To make just what I want. A couple of years ago I am sitting in the garage building a custom harness, using wires from both of the factory harnesses harnesses to get what I want. As I am sitting there pulling wires and relooming them the way I want, a friend stopped by and looked at the, what looked an explosion in an excelsior factory. He looked in bewilderment at what I was doing. I told him about my plans, and he asked how old I was. I told him that I was 74. He looked at me and said why are you still doing this? I looked him right in the eyes and said, because I ain't dead yet, that's why!". I figure that I have been doing this since I was 14, have owned 105 cars during that time and still get great joy doing it. I don't move as fast, but so what! As long as I can still move and enjoy it, I will do so! Geezers unite and keep on doing!

  7. Pat, we go back a long way. Sorry about you losing your wife. Life is tough as you know, but you are tougher. You didn't know, but I always admired your attitude and ability. Just keep plugging away, and you will get it finished.

Found Ambition! What a great name for a car!
    You should name it that.

  10. Hey Johnny! In 1993 the first Americruise was held at Springfield, MO. I was blown away when Boyd Coddington showed up in a 57 exactly like yours including paint colors.
I'm 76 two days ago and sold off my latest project [50 Pontiac coupe] when I realized I don't have the time, money or room for another one. Thankfully, I still have enough energy to keep my 34 coupe going

Yes some progress, the bracket is made and needs to be welded then I can assemble.
