I was out visiting a friend the other day and remembered a buddy of mine's Mom's house was in the area. The house is setting vacant, because she moved in with her daughter a couple of years ago. The last time I was over here was 10 years ago. He had ask me if I could give him a value on a Model "A" 2-dr. sedan (I think it is a 29) that belonged to his Dad who had died. It was left to his sister & him. They planned to restore it and rent it out for weddings. I told him it wouldn't fly because of the small rear seat area, and lack of access crawling behind the front seat. I gave him an appraisal of $1500.00 as the motor wasn't running and had the head off. Anyway, I stopped by to look at it's current condition, which is poor. It is now covered with rust, tires dry rotted. The garage it sits in does not have a door, just a tarp covering it, so wind and moisture get inside. There is so much **** around it, you can't get in to see the condition of the interior, but I'm sure the mice have tore it up. The car will probably rot to the ground before it is ever sold, because the sister thinks it is worth $5000.00, and she wants half of that amount before she will release her share on it. My buddy wouldn't give me a price for how much he wants for his share, but I suspect he is just as greedy. It is a shame that it is rotting away. I told him I would work on it for them to get the body in shape for $10 per hour, but they said no. They were going to get it restored. That was 10 years ago. I guess when their Mother dies, they will auction it off with the house. Here are the best pictures I could get of it, because you can't get the tarp out far enough to get any good pictures of it.

Model A tudor sedan complete with light surface rust? I don't think they are that far off to be honest. I've ssen guys on here pay that much for stuff with the bottom of the body rusted away, full of holes etc. Might no bring a full $5000 but I bet a bunch more than $1500

if its got tires on it ,im pretty sure its surface rust and we all know that goes away with a little work making 5 gs pretty reasonable.it seems complete.offer 4 for it.

Roll it out, clean it up. It would probably bring $5k.

I mentioned this on another thread-- about two weeks ago at an auction in Quartzsite AZ a running, driving, older restoration 1930 tudor went for $6,500...

For the one here, as mentioned $3,500 - $4,000 or so sounds right.

$1500 10 years ago? Yeah, maybe 20 years ago. I agree by just what has been posted, $3000-4000 range, and up from there cleaned up and pulled out.

Yep, get off your wallet and quit trying to rip them off for $1,500. You're being just as stubborn as they are.

Jeez, here in the rust belt of CT, that Sum***** would sell for $5000 all day long. With the shape it's in from the pictures you attached it looks like "showroom condition" lol

Unfortunately, I think it will get 5k if put on the market. But that's the dumb situation we find ourselves in at the moment. I've seen siblings be that way over many things, houses being a big one. True market value means nothing when they go batsh*t with some number in their head.

All it takes is one person to pay the "new" price and then everyone else gets screwed...kinda like what happened with the housing market a few years ago. I think that there's this new mentality of "If everyone has it marked for a new crazy price, people have no choice." Well, I will continue to sit on my wallet until their electricity is shut off, they get a little hungrier, and a little more reasonable.

There are tons of stories on here of guys getting A's for $500-$1500 in the dry states. I say sniff around the Southwest, make a big trip, bring home the (cheap) bacon.

It actually looks pretty nice considering where it's at. Around here they're going for $3500.00 and in better condition up and over $5000.00. The rust belt didn't leave many in good shape.

I'd say that thing is worth a solid 2500. If the motor ran I could see 3-4k easily.

Did you read the article at all? I'm not trying to buy it. He came to me 10 years ago, he knew I was into streetrods, and asked me if I knew anyone who could give him an appraisal on the car. I told him that a local guy, could do it but he charged $100.00 for his appraisals. My friend didn't want to pay for the appraisal, so I told him I could give him my "opinion only". I gave him a price based on what a friend had paid for his 28 a year earlier, and in about the same condition. I just drove by yesterday, to see if the car was still there or if they had sold it. My curiousity was peeked by a friend telling me that he had a friend looking for a Model A to build. This was the only one that I knew of. Maybe I should put him on to you and you can steer him toward the deal of the century!

    Hey xhotrodder,
That wouldn't be owned by a guy named Bingham, would it? Sister's married name Snow?

Story sounds familiar. Guy says it's worth $15,000, but his sister wont sell because it was Dad's car...

I don't live in Canada, Texas, or California. I live in Kentucky. Ask any one who lives in Kentucky, when you want to sell your car & get top dollar for it, you better take it to Fla. or out west. You can't get top dollar for one here. Using that same principal (TEN YEARS AGO) I gave the guy a comparitive price of what my buddy had paid for a model A he purchased in about the same condition. I paid $800 for a 39 Chevy 2-dr. sedan the same year. In Canada you may well pay a lot more for your cars.
