Projects Found this out in Nowhere!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Johnny C., May 4, 2009.

  1. I'm REALLY glad you didn't just steal it. As for how to build it, do your own thing. Figure out what you like and don't like. The rest of us ain't going to be driving it so why should we tell you how to build it. I personally like the idea of a mild flatty in a stripped down modified. While you have the body apart knocking out dents and taking off rust, do some research, look at lots of pics of the way the old guy's used to do it in the 40's and 50's and make yourself a plan. By the time you have it ready for paint you'll know what you want to build.

Oh hell leave the guy alone. He's fine. He shouldn't have to put up a biography on it to ask for help anyway, you can pretty much gather from, "I was able to just load it up and bring it home.", that it wasnt stolen.
Dude, i'd go with that T idea there, or i'm also a fan of the pick up idea. I'd wide whites for sure, and i'd toss in that flat head. :D

that is the front half of a 26/27 ford roadster...i have a 27 roadster body and a 27 touring body sitting side by side in the garage now and i looked at them and in the panel where the back of the seat goes it has then embossed part that goes up and around and it only has that on the roadster..the touring car body in that spot does not have that ..so i am pretty sure that that is the front half of a roadster..

alchemy is right the front half is the easy part to find ...but if you want it back into a roadster ive got the rear half that goes to that...i have 350 bucks in it if your interested id like to see my money back thats all...or i have a pickup bed if you wanna make a roadster pickup...and Atomickustom..ive got a cowl for one of those...talk to me if you need one..thanks

I never thought by what you said, that you STOLD it.... Damn, people assume the worst everytime.

Looks like Old Iron has what you need either way. That's what the Hamb is all about, helping a fellow hot rodder out.

Sorry you had to hear all that bullshit.

Good luck on the project, and keep us posted.

Been there & done that over 40 yrs ago. Found the front half of a touring in the woods of southern Oregon out of K-falls. Had to carry that sucker for over a mile thru the woods & over fallen trees to get it to my PU.Was real fun then, but could not carry one that far now without a doctor along?,LOL.

I found this body in a field a half mile from where I am sitting right now. That was when I was about 17. One of my friends (childhood and still is) had built the chassis with the flathead and sold it to me to put the body on.

It originally had the subframe out the back like yours. I found that one 45 years ago and yours is in better shape now than that one was then.

Thanks for all of the ideas and input guys. Like I said I am not real familiar with T's so it is great getting ideas and help from all of you. I am still not sure which way to go with it but I like the modified look and the simplicity of it. The T roadsters with the turtle deck are cool to though. I tend to always try to be a little different while sticking to the 40's and 50's style so the modified is where I am leaning.
Any more info on the 40's and 50's style of modified T's? More pics?
    Thanks again.

I'm 99% sure the differences between roadsters and pickups are in the subrails. See how this subject car has a wider spot in the subrail, about where the rear wheel would locate? That means roadster as the wheelwell kicks out a bit.

And the guy who says that '26 roadsters didn't have opening driver's doors is wrong. That stopped years before 1926.

You don't need body panels. Just add an oval gas tank and make it a modified.

What you have there is the front 1/2 of a touring car. we have several parts for them, including a 50% (or so) complete roller, you can see it in one of my other threads. We have the majority of what you need to put the body back together. If you want any parts, let me know.

I'll tell ya what......you don't wanna fool with that 'ol rusty thang.......jus strap it down to the pallet good....and I'll send after it...;)

  15. WARNING: Caveat Emptor! Make sure that you can see the parts firsthand. :( Fuzzy pictures with hidden rot and removed with a torch don't cut it with me. Never again.

Neat find. You have done well fella! Now, the HAMB members who assumed it was stolen, are a dandy lot. Guilty until proven innocent is the train of thought today in Amerkia.

Still have the body. It is for sale right now. I have to many projects and don't have time to get to it. And yeah it still isn't stolen it was given to me by the land owner, I was just the one that found it.

I had the oppotunity to pick up a tub just like that about 15 years ago. I asked the landowner 2 weeks later if I could have it. He said he had just had the area cleaned up and the crusher got. FUUUUUUUCK!

That is the way it usually goes. I have ran into that a few times as well. I guess if you see it you should ask right away just to be safe. I see alot of it going to the crusher in my area.

  21. nice find! time to drive around a little more and see what else is there.

  22. What he has there is definitely a 26-27 roadster body, not a half touring. The half touring has a straight up and down piece at the back of the body where the door bolts on. Also the rear of the front seat back is smooth. The body shown also has the dip at the bottom outer edge. The subframe looks to be roadster pickup as it doesn't have the floorpan sheetmetal piece or any part of it that should be rivetted in there in a roadster. I have a T tub or touring so know for sure it is a roadster. As for opening front doors, all the Canadian made T's had both doors open as we built the export models here with right hand drive and they needed the driver door to open for the passenger. Pat.
