I apologize for my rant but I'm really not out here being a complete idiot. and extreme caution was used and the brakes work great and the cars steers its got bump steer i can hit two bumps at 30 mph and know it won't work then drive back at 10mph. not being irresponsible, just don't know everything.
Relax pal, like us, you're learning, none of us was born knowing it all. Just take the time to research and do it right, we know you can, look at the car from the side from fifty feet, all the 4 bars, drag link, everything should look as close as possible to the same angles, all the links need to be on the same plane, as paralell as you can get, all the hinge points need to be as close together as you can get, so the whole front end rises and falls as one unit, otherwise the different length links fight each other and create interesting driving characteristics. Got it?
Any updates Kyle. I was searching for you at Round Up but didn't see your T anywhere. Hope to see you at next years.
Buzz, I didn't make roundup this year. Got the suspension figured out turned out the bump steer really wasnt all the bad the frontend spring was too hard took 3 leafs and BAM! handling.... Soon as the car got to diving straight I pulled the 302 and built a little 351w.
I know this is an old thread, but since it was brought back up, This should answer all your questions on the setup of a 4 link with Mustang steering
Sounds good. I won't make the Round Up this year but will be making the trip to LA roadster show again in June. Good luck on the build. Hope to run into you some time at a show.
i had some really bad bump steer in my 1930 ford coupe with a 4 bar front. i replace the old soft rubber bushings in the 4 bar with microflex bushings and totally eliminated the bump steer.
