I have a 1938 pickup cab and I need a frame for it. Does anyone know if there are frames from other years that will easily work? I know a 1939 pickup frame will work but I'm not sure about other years or if passenger cars will work. Thanks
Those frames are all same basic shape, but with lots of detail differences involving the several types of brakes, steering, etc. over the years, mostly stuff irrelevant for rodding. If you are building something that will look like a '38, maybe differences in radiator mounting will give you the most trouble. If planning basically early Ford based works, a '39 or 40 would give you everything set up for hydraulics, best steering, etc., if doing more radical alterations or using later model running gear, differences between frames should not matter at all.
When I bought my 38 cab I asked this question over on the Early V8 board. I was told that 35-40 car and truck are the same frame just differences in body mounts.
