Projects Frames differences

About to purchase a 35/36 5 window sheet metal doors/ cowl/ floor/ rear quarters /roof no frame. I have a 35 frame that is broken in two from rust, but i have a good 46 Ford frame. The question which would be better in the long run? No pictures just opinion?

 

Not real close to the same from what I can remember. One of the guys local to me who is a member on here who doesn't post much used to have two or three pretty nice 35/36 frames behind his shop from rides he built that got custom frames. The cost of shipping would be a bunch though.

Ya, you need the 35-40 (41 pickup) frame.

A good technical diagram for a 35 - 40 frame is Wescott Auto.
If you rebuild your 35 frame it will show you all the proper mounting points and dimensions.

I just ordered the 2 frame pieces to make the repair! I do appreciate the information and the stupid computer found it quick!

 

You may have to drive a bit, but you should be able to find a 35-40 frame in decent shape for a reasonable price. If you’re ok going as far as Pennsylvania, you should check with Matt at IronTrap Garage. He’s on here too.

 

I have bought from Matt a couple times but I was able to find the repair pieces for $300 shipped to me . It looks like it was a common problem where it rusted through.

 

Why don't you update your information to include at least the State you live in and you might get some help from the locals.

 

I bought from Joesantiqueautoparts.com overall the price was reasonable they listed multiple pieces depends on what you need. Good luck!

 

I've got a '35 frame in really decent shape if anyone is looking.

 

I know it is strange but I don't need the 46 Ford coupe frame so if anybody needs it it will be free in the postings
