The "dust" from sand will cause silicosis of the lungs.
Check out this link for some info:

    Bad stuff.

I'm actually waiting on the nozzle but I'll let ya'll know how it works. If the store bought pressure pots are simply bottom outlets and have no riser pipe in them it should be the same principal and should work just fine.

I had to upgrade to hardedned nozzles, the ceramic ones did not make it through the 1st bag of media.

I built my blaster using a propane tank and the same basic principles found with this one at vintage projects http://www.vintageprojects.com/metal-welding/sandblaster-plans.html The tank I used was a little bigger than the size you use on a BBQ grill. Next time I'll use a bigger tank. My compressor puts out about 12 CFM/120 PSI and sits on an 60 gallon tank. It doesn't quite keep up but you just about run out of sand as you run out of air. As the air pressure drops you need to adjust the valves on the pot. It almost takes two people to keep things flowing well. Next time I'll buy the bigger air compressor. I bought my nozzle/gun through Amazon.com for about ten bucks. Buy two and get extra tips. I buy my blast media from Tractor Supply. I use the fine grade. Water in the air is an issue. It causes clumping. I run my air through a second air compressor tank as I can't imagine a small filter/separator doing the job. I live between the Pax River and Chesapeake Bay, so, it's very humid here. Keeping a garden hose misting the outside of the second tank helps dry the air.
