Drove up mid-state yesterday despite the wind and rain and brought this back. Original to the Pyrex float bowl and oil bath air cleaner, with the original bill of sale from Floyd Rice Ford in Detroit. six cylinder, standard trans with OD and Power steering. Trunk and rear floors solid Ford steel, amazing. Future project unless somebody want it done thier way by my shop. Excuse my gloating, but I can't remember when I last scored something like this.
Body looks good ! I like the camo paint job . It's so great , I can't even see it behind the red X ! Jim
WTF ? The pix show up for me. Don't know why you guys can't see them. Anybody have any ideas? Would like you all to see them.
Wow! That's an odd duck... a Skyliner but it's a 6 without overdrive, and yet it's got power steering and the accessory steering wheel (You **** for that haha). Very nice buy! What are your plans?
Looks like you did OK with the deal . I like it ! Looks a lot better than all the RED X's ! So what are you going to do with it now . Looks like a good driver ! I am guessing it will need some work to be road worthy . Can you tell us more about the car ? Jim
Score! Love those cars! How's the trim and rubber around the plexi top? Had an opportunity to buy one of these last year but the trim around the top was so bad or missing I p***ed.
Oh yeah!!! Great score! IMHO the rear needs to come down some . Sure gonna be a beauty when you are done.
Thanks guys. I really wanted you all to see it. Had a smile on my face the whole tow home. Also, big thanks to Raceron for posting the pix for me. Car does have overdrive, and all the trim is intact and present. Not going to do much on it right now except maybe see if I can get it started. Engine is free, so that's a plus. Car was originally a medium green with a white top. Crobird, send me a PM on the gl***top and seal you have.
Those steering wheels bring over a grand, this book :http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=378&item=120753396863 has a great section on steering wheel restoration, and lots of other good tips on DIY upholstery.
Thanks Jeff. Never would have thought. Evidently the top of the horn ring is busted off, as many are, but it'll stay with the car anyway. Shows up on the original bill of sale though. Original buyer paid a whopping $14.56 for it. I should have stocked up on them when I was 2 months old, I'd be rich now !!
Check this out from ebay and this is only the horn ring http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1953...Accessories&hash=item43a5a49ad7#ht_1333wt_939 I saw a complete steering wheel several months back bring $2,300 with 18 bidders. Just think if you sent one to the trash back in the day so you could have one of those fancy metalflake wheels.
