A friend of mine said he used to attend a cool rod run in early October in Fredrick, Maryland...He hasn't been there in a couple years, and we were looking for details on this year's show but can't seem to find anything online... Any Maryland rodders here know anything about it? Date/time/location/etc?
Seems there was a rift of some sort a few yrs. back amongst some members of the club that put it on and the run kinda deteriorated. Not sure if it still goes on or not as I haven't been to it in quite a few yrs. I think it was the Catoctin Mtn. Street Rods who put it on. Might check to see if they have a website.....................................Last time I went it wasn't in Frederick, it was in Mt. Airy. Hope this helps...................................................Don.
The Halloween Rod Run is a one day show now. It use to be a great 3 day show if you counted moving in on friday afternoon. I think it was just a matter of older members doing alot of the work and retiring from the show. Something that has been happening for years every where.I know a few of the past members (catoctin mt. street rods) never heard anything bad other then tired.I know it was one of best, you knew street rodding was over for the year rod runs. Lots of good memories
willys41 had one of the first valve-cover tracks on the eastern seaboard that he built and took down to that show too. Damn, that was a l-o-o-o-o-o-n-g time ago, huh?
Thanks for the quick responses! I've been looking online for any info for this year's show, one day or otherwise... and can't find anything. It doesn't seem the Catoctin Mnt. Street Rods website is operational anymore either... or maybe I'm just not finding it. Any help would be appreciated!
Try this number (301)748-7787 ask for George, He's one of the few remaining members of Catoctin Mtn. Street Rods. I know they did a one day show last year at the Elks Lodge in Frederick, maybe 70-80 cars.
The Fredrick MD Halloween Rod Run was one of the best run around years ago when it was a 3 day event at the Frederick fair grounds, then it went to a one day show. now I know if it still around but George would know he is one of the members.
I'll second that, you could dress up and act like fool and nobody cared because you were with your rodder family, and the food was always good. One year the wife were beat out of first place for the best costume by a bunch of care bears, she was a shirt and I was a pair of pants. This brings back alot of good memories. How about driving your car in the parade in costume.
