Technical Free Drag Racing "Quick Change"

First run . . . then the "Quick Change"
Picked up a full second. Did have a little trouble in shut-down -- the caster change along with the big "Gyro" effect made the car want to go straight.

 

Isn't that the subject of an old RnC cartoon?

Did you swap the tires front-to-rear or turn the body around on the ch***is?

 

Yep, a known situation.
That's why most all modern drag race cars have a 1" offset from one front spindle center to the other. This provides a larger "rollout" just like the larger tires as shown above.

Years back, some were getting carried away with the offset, so the NHRA and other racing bodies ins***uted the 1" spindle offset rule.
A larger front tire can still be used, along with the spindle offset. Many "Stock" car cl*** owners do this.

I think the increased engine RPM is what did it...not the front tire rollout

 

I wonder why that look never caught on...gives the g***er look quick and easy!
