I just saw this while poking around the free section of the Nashville Craigslist. Looks to be mostly foreign cars, but I was curious as to the identity of the ragtop in front. http://nashville.craigslist.org/zip/5037849087.html From the ad: "I have an old barn that I need torn down. Really nice old wood...was built around 120 years ago. I,also have about an acre of old cars that need removed. I inherited the property and have no need for any of this. If you come get it, its yours...Cars range from 1960-1980 models....few nice ones....First come first serve.'
something doesn't smell right with that ad.... I have no idea on the car, but looking at the rest, I'd say it isn't domestic
I don't know but I wouldn't waste any time getting over there. I recognize an Alfa Romeo sedan, 2 Renault Dauphines, a possible Auto Union 3=6, a Sunbeam or Hillman, and a VW van. The convertible in the foreground is a mystery. It is probably British or an outside chance of being French. If I had a better photo showing the front or rear I could probably identify it. In any case, it seems pretty complete and would make a cool rod.
Where's the area code from? Might be worth checking into, unless you find that number to be from a third world country edit... area code is NC better make that call soon
It does seem to fit the too good to be true, it usually isn't mantra.............but if I was located in the near vicinity, I would have to check it out. The ragtop in the foreground with the suicide doors, from what you can see in the picture looks like it could be something fun to build.
Its worth a phone call. If your afraid its a phone scam, use your wife's phone! If its free, i'd be there. Tim
With the price of scrap being down and those cars being lightweight from new and lighter from rust It might be best to give them away. Last week tin was $6/hundred. Most of them would only be $120 or so after hauling.
guy probable just wants it cleaned up if it was around here i would call to see if it was worth it or not
Yeah, that's likely, a whole yard of foreign cars in Nashville Or, you could use google image search, upload the pic, and find where it originated.... http://placesplanet.com/old-car-junkyard-kaufdorf-switzerland/ Scroll down, look familiar? Rich
What do they always say, if it's too good to be true, it is! Either way it's only a telephone call and hopefully a short drive? Unusual body style, suicide doors and body shape. European of some sort. Being an inheritance all he wants is free labour to remove the cars and barn to tidy the place up for sale.
I'd go. Even if you go graba ton of VW and related. That stuff has a strong following and sells fast. I was at the pick-a-part in San Diego a few years back. The Jags and Benzes were untouched, there was nothing left on any VW. Doesnt mean your not cool. Just an automotive mercenary financing a set of wide whites.
A lot of people inherit things and have no use for them. Many cars have gone to the crusher just because little Jimmy ended up with dad's farm or old shed full of cars and crap. To me anyone near wouldn't be out much by checking this out. Even the old barn wood is worth a lot.
Most people want to inherit MONEY- it's easier to get rid of!----- But as said numerous times, worth a trip to check it out ( might be a '32 3 window buried in there someplace!)
I got it when you posted it earlier, apparently some people didn't pay much attention to the previous posts?
I can only guess at the guys angle but I bet if you call he says " lots of people called and the offered x dollars" then you offer more, he says "if your serious western union the money and I'll hold it because I'm honorable". It's wierd how scammer people always tell you how honest they are. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
You mean there's no '32 Fords in Switzerland?? Crap. ( at least they have good hot "chocolate" if they don't have good hot "rods"--Nyuk, Nyuk)
I wonder if they picked "Hohenwald," TN as the fictional location of this scam because of it's German origins? Or maybe they thought they could get the Lane Motor Museum folks here in Nashville to bite? Most of the time the fake ads in the free section of the local Craigslist involve somebody trying to get someone to haul off their unsuspecting neighbor's goats. Thanks for identifying the Peugeot. Even if it were real, I don't need another project, just thought it looked kind of neat with its 46-48 Ford-ish lines plus suicide doors.
VW stuff is huge, I parted out one awhile back and tripled my money. No Jags or Benz in my neck of the woods.
