My Question is needing to install the fork bracket to front of intake to receive the fan shaft for a wide pulley only. To reduce belt slap and stress on cheep design offset gen brackets. Where would you find all the correct and well made parts or used that could be modified to work? Thanks
Fabrication required, cardboard to make pattern. You could use spring loaded arm or threaded bolt for adjustment tention. Easier to find a flat pulley (idler) no V, Diesels, tractors, lawn movers , LS's , Fords , many modern Vehicles, Or for V & flat check out MSC , Grainger ext . Plastic, cast, aluminum ,steel
When I had my F-H like yours , set up same , No issues , I think it turned about 4,200 when on floor . Been about 8 years ago , If you want to look Vintage Correct you'll have to think outside the box, Do not be scared to drill tap block, head , You could even just use a wide sealed bearing , Just be sure to look up spec of bearing ,
If you don't skateboard anymore, use one of the urethane wheels. They're ball bearinged for 5/16" or 8mm axles. I use them to get better wraps on the pulleys, esp generators or alternators.
Just about every rig on the market with a serpentine belt setup has a spring loaded idler pulley on it. Fords had idlers on V belts since the 60's or 70's on some models.
Ford kept manual tension into the early 90s on some models, Kia into the early 2000s and Subaru the late 2000s Ain't nothing wrong with a manually tensioned serp belt setup. They actually perform better in some applications than spring tension setups because the travel of the spring tensioner is where the slack to throw a belt comes from when you do something like drop a few thousand RPM in an instant.
Have kept one of each style idler pulley in stock for years. They use a common bearing. One V a one backside idler. Used one when the coupe had an odd intake manifold. Never know when you might need one
