Just found this "internet cafe" in Stuttgart Germany, so I can get my HAMB fix. Flew outta San Diego at 9:00AM Sunday, got here at 10:40AM Monday. The Daimler-Benz headquarters is right down the street from my hotel, not sure if the museum is in that complex but I'll check it out tomorrow. Haven't seen much on the road 'cept for MBs and Porsches. I noticed that only Mercedes were parked in the Daimler-Benz lot, the VWs and Audis had to park outside the fence next to the street... Nice place but I'm ready to go home where I can understand the language...it was kinda funny watchin' an old rerun of "Hogan's Heroes" though, even the Americans spoke German! I was wonderin' what the German folks thought about that.
I think you won´t see lots of old American iron or even hot rods or kustoms on your trip through Germany. You hardly see some during the summer. Enjoy the Mercedes Benz Museum, it´s a nice place with lots of old cars. If you can make it to Munich be sure to visit the Deutsches Museum and the BMW Museum. There are many old cars , planes and scientific exhibitions. I love " Hogan´s Heroes" , that´s one of the funniest things on TV over here. For me at least. It´s called " Ein Käfig voller Helden" in Germany, which means " A cage full of heroes". I laugh my ass off everytime I watch it.
Pop over here quick, i'll give you a blast around the M25 in the roadster, you'll freeze your ass off for sure!
Im even far north, colder here... during my visits in Germany, been there at least 10 times the 3-4 last years, I´ve seen ONE decent car. A yellow 57 Chevy 210, think it was in Neckargemund... I know there are some cars there too, I´ve seen them on some Swedish meetings, but never on the German streets. I´m happy that old American cars are ten times more common here then in Germany, at least summertime.
I think it's good you're cold! You deserve it California boy. When I was in Germany I was watching National Lampoons European Vacation.I started watching it in the middle after having a smoke outside of my hotel.I freakin'flipped when after about 3 minutes of watching it they have a car chace over the verry bridge I was just standing on!This is no BS!Hope you're having fun!
that is funny that you are there! check out my post "independent front suspensions and traditional hot rods" that museum in stuttgart has the real cars! and its free to get in! you just have to take a bus to the inside of the compound. good luck, and take us some pics of the golden era cars supposedly they have a gift shop with scale versions of these cars, that you can't get anywhere but there. travis aka zibo you are lucky
