We just put in some Johnson adjustables in our French block only cos everything else was new , bigger cam and bigger valves. As far as I am aware there is no difference. But heck adjustable are so easy when you slip in a big cam.

The French flathead block lifters are identical to the Ford flathead so you can use any adjustable lifters made for the flathead V-8 block.

Yes. You can use adjustables. And you'll be happier for it.

Get the ones with holes in them so you can drill the lifter boses to ease adjustments.

Correct get the adjusters with either the slot or hollow with the slot right through . Dill a 1/8 hole in the lifter bore approx 3/8 down or with a bigger cam they will need to down further ( ask me how I know) and slip pin punch into the hole and adjust up or down . Way easier than the correct Johnson tools when you need to use one for up and the other for down , in the little holes in the upper face of the lifter.

Definitely use the adjustables, WITH the slots, as Kiwi mentioned.......Much easier.
