New to the forum. Just bought a 53 chevy 3600 from MI. Brought it home and it was starting up right away every time for about a week. Then I got bold and took it for a ride around the neighborhood. Damn thing died down the block and couldn't get it started. Towed home. Confirmed carb was getting gas. Spark plugs were changed when I got it home. I couldn't figure it out so I decided to rebuild the carb. Still won't start, even when with staring fluid or a little gas in the carb. I did confirm the bowl was full after the rebuild too. Any ideas?
Oh, and I checked the distributor which looks new. Just can't figure out why it was running fine when I got it home, the just went to hell. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks SMOG GUY. I'll check that next. Dumb question.....does this need to be done for all plugs or just none? I don't have an in line tester so I will have to do this manually.
I always start with coil and then move to easiest plug. Might take two people, one crank one to watch closely. Leave coil wire in coil, temp. remove wire from cap. Hold wire or let wire sit about 1/2 inch or less from metal--engine valve cover whatever.
Well I finally found time to work on this problem. I have no spark at the plugs. I changed the coil and condenser, still nothing. What do I do next? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Points make sure you have power going to coil take dist cap off turn engine till points are closed turn key on take screw driver and open points to see if they arc
