Hey everybody, My name is Michael Martinez. I used to be on the HAMB a couple of years ago when I had my 60 Impala. I've been out of the Marines for about 2 months now and just picked up a 56 Buick Century 2dr HrdTp. She's gotta 322 nailhead, and is all original. I think I'm the 3rd owner, only 91,000 miles on her too. The guy I bought the car from said that there was another guy waiting to buy it, but when I started talking about a three-duece setup and having nothing but nasty intentions for her, we made a deal. I got into "old school" cars around 16, and a firm believer in driving what you own. Cars are for the road, not a museum. I will admit to owning a honda at one time and am willing to take the abuse for it, but it was an island car when I was stationed on Hawaii, and ever since then it's been all GM. I've owned a 60 Impala, 85 Monte Carlo, and a 94 Z-28. Looking forward to driving my baby up and down California for the shows and swaps this year. I used to own the G****vine in my Imp, now I'm gonna own it in my Buick. Mike.
Welcome to the H.A.M.B. And Thank You for your service in our armed forces! Post pics of the Buick when you get time. Thanks, Lance
welcome aboard, just north of you in modesto, CA. the century body, especially in a '56 2 dr hardtop, is about as sharp as they come. we're dyin for some pics.
hey welcome to the hamb. good to see some guys in the area. I'm from hanford, so is our shop but I'm in fresno quite a bit. One of the other Spade 8 guys has a '56 Buick and I've got a '64 Wildcat. there are a couple places in fresno that've told us it's cool for us to use their parking lots sometime if we want to meet up. there's more than enough of us from the area to hang out, get some grub and scratch our bellies at some cars. thanks for your time in the military, I've got family serving and know how the ups and downs are. good to see your 'drive it' mentality, too. I don't get how people can put so much into their car that they don't want to use it.
