Kingsburgh is a good place to live. take Conejo straight west from kingsburg about 12 miles and you are there in Burrell.

I live in Armona, and it's really not too bad. I live in the new developed area and feel safe at night for the most part. The street over from mine can get packed with gang kids hanging out, but I'm not Hispanic so I don't even exist to them. The doors on my Jeep don't lock and it sits in my driveway every night without incident.
I agree, the fog is terrible but for me being stationed here I don't have a choice. I bought my house for a very very good price, new 4 bedrooms here are going for around $165K.
Ideally I would live on Royalshifters couch, but I'm sure he'd like his privacy! :D
I would choose Clovis over Fresno, but remember, the fog ****S.

Edit, just saw where Burrel is.... Holy ****, that is in the middle of nowhere!!! I say from there, Lemoore would be a good choice if you like small town. If you want I'll give you a tour of the Navy base when you get out here. Good luck with your move, there are a bunch of car guys in the area.

Living in Burrel is not really an option as there are no houses. My wife and I were in Fresno this weekend and Lemoore seemed pretty nice. We're trying to get an apartment there while we look for a house. Thanks for all your input. Clovis/Tarpey look nice but that put's my commute at 45min-1hr in good weather/traffic. -J

Hanford or Lemoore would be good considering the location of the job. Both have nice areas to live. Lemoore Naval Air Station has a lot to do with the vitality of the area. There is also lots of dirt track racing there, I go to the races in Hanford often.

Notice your Avatar says the dry side of Oregon, so you know about heat. Evening swim and BBQ parties are very popular here May through September.

I commute 20 miles into Fresno every day and the fog is something I put up with about 3 weeks a year. The past couple years have been relatively light.

My family loves it here. We've lived on the coast (Santa Cruz) but feel more at home here, good neighbors, no traffic, open spaces, beach an easy drive, 3 national parks close by. Our house cost 1/3 as much as a similar house in Southern California or the Bay Area. The cost of real estate is low enough that many families also keep a cabin up in the Sierras.

That's the smell of money to some people. I made dairy cow feed for a living so I can deal with cow piss smell. It doesn't seem like I'll get out of the fog anywhere in the valley. -J
