Hi, I am new here. A friend told me about this thread that happens on Fridays and suggested I post some of my art. I go to car shows with my husband and enjoy painting small format paintings of details from photos. V Eight.jpg

  19. I did a 55 Nomad and a 56 hard top, so here is a 57 too. I drew some of my friends cars, years ago as g***ers. If I find them , and anyone would like to see, I'll will try and post a couple. Roth's Tee shirt art, 011.jpg and Drag Cartoons, got me started drawing HOT RODS. Ron...

Wow, what a show everyone! Some impressive variety.

I’ve been in storyboarding mode the last several weeks. Just about finished with a commission piece that is full of eye candy and should be ripe for sharing soon. Also a piece for Ken Scmidt’s (Rolling Bones Hot Rod Shop) next book.
though he shared it on Facebook, I don’t want to post it until it is done and get’s his nod...

In the mean time, an older drawing, reposted, and it’s history:

I posted this with the ***le, “Deuce Sedan”, on the Rolling Bones FB page and a comment was made:
The guy said “WITH A VISOR?” Now, I don’t know about you but I always take ‘all caps’ as a sign I’m being yelled at or that I’ve offended someone’s sensibilities so I went on to explain:

"I added the visor, on the drawing, stylistically, for a couple reasons:

1.) to emphasize the roofline and force your eye downward to the engine, exaggerating the ‘lean’ of the chop.

2.) to eventuate the gracefulnes of the curves around the front edge of the door flowing back into the roof and at the cowl, flowing forward. in the real world, I doubt anyone would do that to a ’32.

I also exaggerated the rear body curve as it tucks under and gave it a subtle 2” section, front to back.”

"The original line art from 2006... (note how I further chopped the top and sectioned the body for the color final)
This drawing was actually inspired as an update of a drawing I started in high school. The engine, while refined in the newer drawing, is actually lifted from that old one, a ’30 Sedan, “resto-rod”."

"This is the old drawing that inspired the blue deuce. It is ink and color pencil on illustration board. It was my first set of Prismacolor pencils and the drawing was inspired by an old slot car."

"This is the old slot car. I’m guessing my brother got it in about ’73 or ’74."

"And this is a ‘work in progress’s tat chart I made to figure mess with various color options, sans photoshop... I was also checking to see how my markers were working...
Not impressed (Prismacolor. One day I’ll have Copics)"

Having a tough morning at work, made some coffee, logged on to see the art show, feeling better already.

Leslie, great 36 emblem. Welcome and please, continue to contribute your talents.
And Ron, nice sketches man! Buy some water color paper, you can still use pencil to outline sketch and fill in the colors as you wish, you don't have to color "inside the lines", art is what you make it. Go, create, share.
