Why does that 32 have twin coils?

  9. Thought I'd post a couple before my coach turns into a pumpkin. First one was done 50 years ago and the other two were done this past week. Drawings1963-1968 006.jpg Ashley'sBodyShopDoors2018 002.jpg Ashley'sBodyShopDoors2018 007.jpg

Dual distributors there is some bunch of ignition wires perhaps 16 into 8, dual plug heads, I saw some direct fire ignition with 2 coils but it was OT and this 32 has all the bells, whistles and even an aooogahhhh horn...I'm a wee bit stumped being an artsy fartsy...:D

What kind of V8 has those covers with studs out the top like that?

Looking at that pic again there is a reflection in the firewall that looks like an additional bunch of stuff...o_O

@robber any other pics of the etched 32?

Possibly a Ford Y-Block? Maybe 2 coils just for show.

Hey Stogy... she's a beauty, isn't she. I have some more recent shots of her that I haven't processed yet. In the meantime, here's a shot from a while back, showing the other side of her motivator. Thanks for the interest in her everyone... you guy's have keen eye's! :) CP 840.JPG

@robber there's actually double of everything wow that firewall really makes my eyes go funny...thanks for the other shot. Next time you see the fella that owns it ask why the 2 coils we want to know just careful the leg doesn't get pulled to much...;)

Just noticed another weird thing the breather on the rocker cover...whats that to even the pulled leg?...:D

The fire wall is trick, and makes for some cool subject matter. The car is an old school show car... very cool and unique features abound. For example... 8 tail pipes! Can't wait to share some of those images in the future. As far as the coils go... we'll get to the bottom of that too in time :)

    ducoil distributor?

i have a spalding flamethrower distributor on my Y block. it's basically two 4 cylinder ignition systems with two caps and two coils. theory behind it was a 4 cylinder ignition has a longer dwell and therefore a hotter spark.

i don't know the theory behind the duo coil. try a search for W&H ducoil
