Great work people. Mr. Cartel, that eyeball is awesome!!
I've seem many "copies" and subtle variations of it but I was wondering when someone would come up with something fresh using that theme....you've done it! The gold wings are outstanding.

    [IMG] ROTH MODEL KITS

This one comes with a story.
I've always been a fan of Ed Roth since is saw a picture of the Beatnik Bandit in a car magazine when I was 12 years old.
When I was 50, I was in a curiosity shop and saw a
re-relese of the Beatnik Bandit model. I was hooked all over again. I decided to collect one of every Roth model ever produced, and since I'm a woodcarver by trade, I decided to carve a HUGE ratfink to stand by the door of the room where I keep the models.
Well , I got pretty far along, and posted a picture of the carving on a web group.
Ed saw it, an was kinda torqued off that someone was reproducing one of his trademarked images without permission. Well, It was explained to him that it wasn't produced to sell, and the guy (me) was just a huge fan that wanted it for his own place.
To make a long story short, outa the blue I get an email from Ed telling me how much he loved the thing and apologizing for being upset!
We started corresponding, Now those of you that know Ed know he was a devout Morman. I on the other hand am not a devout anything.
Ed always had a religious tone to his messages. I decided that instead of ignoring that part of Eds messages, I would ask him about all that. What followed were some amazing correspondence about Eds religion .He described humans as "celestial radios" and told me that I had to keep myantennae up to hear from the Holy Ghost as to what was cool or not. Anyhow it was fascinating to delve into this side of the big guy. He truly felt and lived his faith.
I'm still not religious at all , but it worked for Ed.
Ed and I agreed to meet in July at the Ratfink reunion, and he was gonna authorize and sign a limited edition of carved ratfinks that couldf be sold as kind of an ultimate piece of Finkamabilia.
Ed passed away that April , so I never did get to meet him face to face or complete the carved Fink series.
So what I've got is this huge Ratfink, and every time I look at it I remember the big guy and the day I logged on to my computer and there was a message from my childhood hero, Ed "Big Daddy "Roth.
I Still have to carve a tail and airbush in shading on this guy, but everytime I try to get to it I feel compelled to leave him just the way he is.
Oh yeah, I did complete that model collection ! The URL is attached if you're interested.

Those were all taken in Southern Utah. Besides cars....I love exploring the back country, old mines, ghost towns etc etc.

Chaz.....amazing story. Goes to show that keeping an open mind can open doors for you.
I have never seen a Rat Fink/Roth collection as extensive as yours. Any guesses what its worth today? Just curious.
