Thanks for the peek into your system, Brush! After seeing the R&C thing earlier this week, I was thinking I should PM you and ask what media you use. Very cool!

Is drawing/painting in Painter a lot better than Photoshop? I haven't tried Painter since version 2.0 I think (1994-ish?)... and I wasn't that impressed at the time, but I'm sure it's way different now.

  2. shit boys I got ta get my ass in gear and do some new stuff you are just embarasing me with the quality and quantity of the stuff you all do....I am shamed!!

Waaaaay better Slide......Photoshop is a great program....but when in conjuction with a Wacom tablet...there is zero pressure sensitivty....zip.
    Painter has come along way.
I started at version 4 and I feel the best version was 6.
Alas....OSX, does not support version 6....only 7 and up.
    I use version 7 and 9......
It is a weird program and it ain't perfect......Photoshop is a more stable and superior product....But Painter is the best program for Drawing and painting(IMHO)
Photoshop is a great Photo program.......now saying that.....I know a ton of guys that swear up and down for Photoshop and Laff at Painter.

    They suck:D

Thanks for the comments, Brush, but did you mean PS doesn't fully support bearing (direction) and tilt like Painter does? Photoshop does have pressure-sensitivity for Wacom tablets... I often tell people that you will find PS infinitely more powerful with a pressure-sensitive tablet than with any other mouse, trackball, etc. (My Mac is my favorite peripheral for my Wacom tablet!)

I've just had a hard time justifying Painter's price tag since I already own PS, and I use it so much at my day gig that I know it so well. One of these days I'll sure try it, tho.

I've posted this before, but this was done 100% Photoshop... no scans, no digital photos.

not to computer literate here so I'll stick with doing it all by hand.

heres this weeks entry. On a side note: this piece is up for auction for a good cause...read below............
a skater for Sin City Roller Girls, was jumped and brutally beaten, on June 24th, at approximately 3am. She and two co-workers had just left the Aristocrat bar, When a fight broke out between several male subjects, and Pirate was struck in the face with a blunt object, wrapped in a sweatshirt. The left side of her face was crushed. While she was on the ground, one white male adult, and two black male adults, proceeded to stomp on and kick her in the head. They fled, like the cowards that they are, when confronted by patrons.

Pirate was in surgery today, to reconstruct the left side of her face, from 10 am until approximately 2:15 pm. The doctor relayed that the surgery went very well, but her recovery will take quite some time. Pirate does not have insurance, and any donations can be made to the Sin City Roller Girls, to help with her expenses, as she will not be able to work for some time. Every little bit helps.

This incident occured at the Smith's grocery store parking lot, located at 850 S. Rancho, North of Charleston Blvd.

If anyone has any information, please contact: Crime Stoppers 702-385-5555 or 702-229-3347 Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Assault & Battery Division

With that being said, I am offering up a piece I just finished the other night. Auction will end JULY 7, 2006 Friday night at midnight, with all the proceeds going to help pay her medical bills. I'll take cash, pay pal, and money orders. I also give my personal guarantee that ALL the money goes to where it should. I'll hand off the total amount the Colorado Roller girl Dropkick Mary and let her get it to where it needs to go. Dont be stingy and give it up to a person who deserves and needs a little help. I have been broken up pretty good with no insurance and believe me; it takes years to dig out from under the debt.
on heavy bond (60 lb white) with an assortment of media done by me, CHOP. This piece is so new it's not even on my website yet. You can see the rest of my work on www.artofchop.com. This is the original, no damn print either.
Post your bid on here and when the auction ends I'll contact you and get your info so I can get this in a tube and to you. Link to auction page (Friends of the Road Devils) on myspace: http://groups.myspace.com/index.cfm...en=9052EAA3-D442-EDB8-B857EF0A508633C78550554

please dont get me wrong....Photoshop is a great program.....but I find the tilt/rotation,etc,etc in combination with Painter/Wacom..is much.....keener.....
As mentioned, quite a few friends of mine prefer Photoshop over painter.
here are some custom tools in my toolbox I use(pencils,chalks,pens,etc,etc....I find the feel to be what I like....but hey..to each his own.
The main reason I am digital is most of my clients won't accept trad work anymore...due to timelines and budget restraits....

NICE!!!!!! In fact too nice to be used as a floor tile.......

If you'd like, I can send you a pic of mine and you can try a "deluxe" one.

  17. Thanks Kristy, you can send me any pictures you'd like (yes, I have a long memory). :D

I'm actually working on 2 more in the series. I don't know a lot about Pontiacs, but I love those hood ornaments. That one is from a shot I took at Bob Owens' place.

  23. Here's a few I did today:The car is a custom resin casting from an original hand carved wood mold.It is for the Art Rod Festival in Metamora Illinois on September 10th.This is only the first color.

The bike was a regular customer

The fan blade is for Doc(one of a set of five)that he is having a different striper do each blade.I did both sides because I didn't know which side showed.

When I went back and read what I wrote, it does read like I was arguing... sorry.

Really I guess I'm trying to get a better grasp of what really makes Painter better... and if it's enough to justify the cost. Thank you so much for your input... it's especially appreciated b/c of the respect I have for your talent and skill.

And I certainly don't blame you on going digital... it does seem that digital tools have gotten good enough and market expectations have grown to expect time restraints that only digital will allow, as you mentioned.

and zombie & ichoptop... dang that stuff's awesome!

  27. Ray,

    the fan blade looks amazing.....

Anyway....on with the show....some random stuff I did...
