Back in 1999 I took a 1 year condensed course in 3D Modeling with 3D Studio Max the platform used...even though it was an incredibly complex experience with a huge learning curve I came out of it with a pass with honors...this was one of my Artworks which involved a heavily modified 57 Convertible freestuff model which was hugely admirable in detail, a scratch built Tinman, a ghosted image of the Moon and a checkered base for a surface.

This image was a recent revisiting by me in Photoshop to add a more Hamb friendly Custom look with a lower profile, Moon style discs and other color detailing to revive a classic image that makes me really want one...

@Spoggie your Tinman image a few shows ago reminded me of my work above and like our rides they need their oil to keep the squeaks and seizing up from rearing it's ugly head...

I have been missing you all but I've been busy at home with an extensive hands on continueing construction project which I am enjoying but it's quite an undertaking...it's about halfway there and going smoothly...the fall colors and fall have been pretty incredible this year...

I believe it's the balance of Black and White...White being the background and reflections.

Note there is no grey or shades of...

Those images are true 2 color Artworks...

Perhaps Jeff will acknowledge of further definition of the description of negative and positive if I have missed the mark...;)

I just revisited that imagery Jeff shared and there are in fact Greyscales so perhaps it is the balance of image/subject versus background...hmmm we shall wait for further opinion and discussion...

Jack, Spoggie, Jigger or any of you other talents took this subject in Art Class?

    Hey @Stogy ,That's as good of a Positive/Negative definition as any:D. 0.14.jpg

Having done a lot of flyer work over the years, there are a few tricks to "fool the eye" into thinking/seeing there is "gray area" while remaining just 2 color.

Stipple is one way to achieve this. 0.13.jpg

Also, hatching and cross hatching can "fool the eye" into assuming it is more than just 2 colors...it's all about the "tricks";) 0.15.jpg

Seen at Goodguys car show in 2021, at Puyallup fair grounds.
I always liked this model of Chevy Panel delivery.

Negative space is the areas of an art piece that are not the main subject or focal point. It is supportive of drawing you’re eye to the subject and create a balance.
