mine are like cardboard. Chevrolet also made the metal ones. I have no idea how these worked. if they printed them with ink the image would be negative as the raised parts are the reflections.

I've see those cylinders for printing when I worked for a company that sold boxes. we kept the printing dies at the warehouse and sent them to box companies when we had them make the boxes

In college I did this ink-wash self portrait of me and my '35 Ford pickup (which I drove all through college).

I parked on a sidewalk in front of a Newberry's plate glass window, at night under a street light and drew the reflection...then went home and inked it.;)

...Hamber @chryslerfan55's former Ride...you sent it off...it was your friend for quite some time...
...I know I'll be faced with this decision...nothing is forever...Hope you have something to fill the void...I'm fond of the Inspirations over the years...great memories really...

I see it went to another in our group of friends...awesome...I hope for the same when that day comes...;)

  9. Yes Harv. Resto is well underway on my Special Sedan. Scored a fresh, tight stock spec rebuilt (in '67!) grey with alloy timing gear, running on a stand, for a good affordable price. Still have the hot mill and may yet run the Nikki on that.

...one for our Showstarter @Moriarity...I like Hotrod/Custom...The Cadillac is like a factory Custom right out the door but lend well to just about anything Custom...I added the licks to this and maybe adjusted the altitude...like a cigarette boat on wheels really with the licks like waves sliding along the sides as it glides along parting its path of elegance with its smithys resonating like a distant warbird...

I can't find the metal cut right now, but pictured here, at the top, is the matboard, the middle is the rubber plate, and at the bottom, is an example of what was printed. Pc2.jpg

If and when you take the time to consider what they do,, all cars are cool. Before
I drove I could love any old car. Still do

That was quite the labor intensive industry, it's almost disappeared but it still is an Art form and some still do it old school with T-Shirts and even Ole Newsprint...Thanks for taking the time to explain and show those processes...Thanks to the others as well that expanded on the Printing...
