Good Friday to all of you.
Very cool, new rule about NO AI.
Thanks for that @Jeff Norwell .

I found these cool images of "ISKY" and his iconic kick ass hot rod!
So credit to who ever shot these shots.

    Thanks from Dennis.

  3. From last week’s Detroit Autorama. Original art, original artist. I remember his name as Brown, but have his card in my bag if it becomes important. All the guys selling art in the basement were very generous and accommodating. 3937D14F-AA1D-4AA1-8733-F2F06EB25507.jpeg

upload_2024-3-8_5-10-24.png This is what I see when I look at the photo below. A little more flavor, yet old style for the “cool” factor. It may not be what you had in mind, as the photo below shows, but your photo made me draw the similar roadster. Note: My "all black" roadster version looked funny, so I added some details.

    Hello,

This is a nice photo and the smile says it all. Since the Model A coupe we tried to start our hot rod adventures back in 1957 was our first choice, I have had a great time drawing different versions of the coupe, station wagon, the roadster and phaeton. Even an RPU and cruiser truck for those lowered days.

So, I can see how much fun it was for the passenger. When I took my mom for a ride in my old Flathead 40 Ford Sedan Delivery to go to her favorite specialty grocery store about 20 miles away, she sat low in the bucket seats and could barely look out of the front windshield. It was quiet, which she liked and indiscreet as far as a hot rod is concerned. But, she grumbled all the way there and back. I was a brash teen and it was my only transportation that got put in service when she wanted to go shopping for groceries. She did not drive and my brother was away in the 58 Impala.

Jump up 10 years and now I had a 327 powered 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery. As far as looks are/were concerned, it looked just like my Flathead version. Once I found the old hot rod look back then, the new remodeled project version years later got the similar look.
    upload_2024-3-8_5-26-19.png
Now, the seats were more comfy, upholstered to match the cave in back and the later version certainly rode much nicer than the barebones Flathead powered teenage version of the hot rod look. The sound was healthier, but still relatively quiet in normal running. It now had the power to load up the back with stuff, groceries, large trees/plants and necessary parts for constructing garden sheds and cabinets. For her, it was a worker’s hot rod. So, it got put to work.

When we still took that 20+ mile ride to her favorite specialty grocery store, she was riding in pure comfort, including A/C. But, the look on her face when she got out was trying to find a place to hide while she made her way into the store. No other “older” person had a hot rod in the parking lot and she wanted to be a part of that group… ha! She never said she was embarrassed to ride in either sedan delivery, but back in my mind, I knew the reason she disliked hot rods.

Note: At first, she was all for her two young sons to work together to do a project, what ever it was. In this case, it was a fast 1940 Willys Coupe built for street use and the local drags. Once we started it, she was very supportive as she was yet to hear the powerful SBC motor start up. Our first version had carburetors only on a 283 motor. But the open collector headers made such a noise that she instantly slammed the kitchen door shut.

The next version had a larger 292 c.i. SBC blower spec motor with a new 671 supercharger in place. Now, it was that much more powerful and the accompanying sound was amplified when the power came to life. The windows + the kitchen door were slammed shut, again. Then, this was the capper for her feelings toward any hot rod builds and sounds… our Willys Coupe came to a sudden end and her oldest child came within inches of not being around anymore. That was enough to keep any parent awake most nights and not like loud hot rods or hot rods in general.

    Note 2:

I liked old roadster and the waving passenger photo so much that I found my old Model A rough drawings and started to draw different versions of a hot rod similar to yours as well as some added power and custom applications that I have always liked.
upload_2024-3-8_5-27-27.png This one is being built elsewhere on the HAMB. But I gave it some added touches.
    upload_2024-3-8_5-28-6.png
This is an extra version of above top all black wire wheel SBC roadster with some future touches and color. Plus, hidden headers to keep the burns away and the noise funneled away from the open roadster seating area for all future passengers... YRMV

    Not to totally hijack… ever wonder what Ed’s second hot rod looked like? Or the ninth? Or the last one? Everyone knows this one, but…;

Does this count ?My grandson Lachlan aka Bubba age 7 IMG_1483.jpeg built this with a little help from Grandpa can’t show the finished car as its OT but I’m proud of him, he knows his cars and likes hot rods or fast cars in general.

Well, I think it counts. Art is using your hands in conjuction with your imagination.

Been clearing some stuff out of storage. Thought I'd share a couple of my favorite art pieces. The "neon" Pegasus painted by a friend. & My old 80's board my brother painted with the image from one of the old Greaserama show flyers. 20240305_123546.jpg 20240305_123939.jpg 20240305_124208.jpg

  21. I almost forgot it was "Friday Art Show" day...
I redrew these first couple so I could make nice prints and attempt to sell the original art at the Detroit Autorama last weekend. Previous versions were either drawn very small or a sloppy digital jpeg.
