When I was younger I used to draw a lot, and over the years it tapered off. I was heavily influence by CARtoons: Trosley, Dave Deal, Shawn Kerri, etc. Obviously the Roth crew was an influence as well, Rodert Williams, Ed Newton, Christiansen. I went back to school in the 90's, took a Transportation Design course at Art Center, but a motorcyle accident sidetracked me. I had picked up new influences: Weezner, Coop, Chris Froggett, Thom Taylor, John Bell, Von Franco. I started drawing again when I moved to Portland, and I noticed that my old CARtoon style was gone, replaced by " ACCD car sketch". Yeah I had light, shadow, perspective, but no movement. I'd like to get it back.

    Any constructive critiques are welcome.

Well I finally got around to registering! I've been coming to this site for years and for some reason just never got around to it. I love seeing everyones work on these Friday threads. It's all so amazing. If you're a fan of Dice Magzine, I'm the guy doing the posters for them now. I also work full time designing toy cars for Jada Toys. I'm trying to open up our current Bigtime Muscle line to include more traditional stuff. Keep your fingers crossed. Whats up Zombie! Hope you're well.

Funny you should post this Jigger. My '41 ended up outside during the snow. Looked a lot like this when it was all over. Wish I would of taken a picture while it was out there. :)

I used to be into the 1/18 scale Ertl stuff, but I haven't bought one in years. I have never bought a 1/24 or 1/43 scale die cast. But if you can convince your bosses to build this '55...

...in any I will rush right out and buy one of each!

    Thanks guy's,

I just pitched the gasser thing to the owner and he went for a single car to test first. Unfortunatly it had to be something we already had a casting for which was very limiting considering the un-original stuff they added to the BTM line cars, (ie:lower kicker panels and side exhaust ports). I chose the only car we have that would work and that was popular as a gasser. Cant say what it is yet but I'll probably do an illustration of one very soon. I'll keep you guy's posted on the progress. I'm also trying to get them to make more traditional wheels so... we'll see. Feel free to check out my myspace page till my new updated site is up.

    Thanks.

I guess what I want to do is keep the detail but loosen it up if that makes sense. I don't have the photo-like perfection like Zombie, and I like the loose CARtoon style stuff better.

    I love this guy's stuff:

Chris Froggett. It's technically accurate but the perspective is hella exaggerated. This is the direction I want my drawing to take.

If anyone wants a car drawn up let me know. Feel free to specify engine wheels, chop, etc. I'm gonna work on some AWB sketches of Falcons & Darts, I'll post them when they happen.

Chris and I have been email pals for a few years now. He's a great guy and quite a character. He called me one night (from England!) and we talked for about an hour! I agree with you that his work is incredible! He also does lettering and striping when he has time. Been a while since I heard from him, think I'll email him right now!

Used to live in HB for a while. This car really captures the scene there - sun, sun, sun, fog, sun, sun, etc :)

Hey DVierstra, would you please PM me on how you get such a big image on this site - I design on a Mac every day and am just too dumb to get it, I guess.
