I can't describe it, but some patina looks good, and is OK to preserve. But some looks really not so good. Ok, I guess I can describe it. If it looks like a flock of giant birds just flew over and decided that the car was the birdie toilet, then the car should be repainted.

    Turned out well I think.
The Bird Yblock in it now could have some of the specific bird parts removed and sent on to someone who needs them. The harmonic balancer is for sure not necessary and is worth a couple hundred by itself. Also could lose the water pump spacer and be better off for cooling anyway. The rams horns were the right choice, they work great. I can take or leave on the valve covers on a hotrod like this. BUt it is mosrt likely in need of a 57 and up dizzy with a newer carb set up or for these cars 3-2 seem like the way to go. Pains in the rear but look right on this.
Yeah, it'll prolly get a hemi.

    That’s a cool car!

although I don’t always agree with Freiburger’s car building choices, he is a real car guy with an honest appreciation for vehicles and their history.

He also puts his cars out there both in person and on social media so that people can see and enjoy them.

yea he’ll probably break the rearend doing burnouts on instagram, but to me that’s better than locking the car away in a private collection where no one can see it.

The water pump spacer with one of the new converted large vane impellers is a godsend. I wish I could use one on my 56 car. A smaller water pump pulley will fix overheating anyway.
    Leave it alone.

Instead of a 57 or later distributor, a Windsor one can be used with a simple modification. I ran one in my y-block. Far more common and easy to find and very cheap.

Many of the 57-up distributors on line being sold are converted Windsor and do work fine. Some are not correct and have damaged the y-blocks they were used. I believe if there is a problem it’s with the gear location and oil pump drive length.
Ted Eaton of Eaton Balancing in Leona Tx has written many articles and this may be one of them; I don’t know. An inquiry on the Yblocksforever.com web site may also lead to the revisions needed.
