Is the issue with pertronix an alternator/generator deal? I have pertronix in a SBC with an alternator and have driven it probably 15,000 miles. No problem ever. Just curious if the problems are related to generator voltage spikes?

  2. I think the main problem with Pertronix is that it is electronic, engine heat could be killing them, we should do a study and see if the majority of failures are on cars with full hoods. Also; HEI's look gay (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

FWIW.....I have had this happen on two cars. One ened up being the condensor. The other one ened up being the coil........long story but after 4 used coils and a NEW cam shaft if finally figured it out.
